PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I contacted Egg re PPI on 17th October, not only did they locate 2 loans from the past six years but also found 2 from 2001 and 2003. I had checked on my credit file to get the details as I had no paperwork, they informed me of the earlier ones. They informed me that I had taken out PPI on all loans, and they asked me for the reasons that I felt I had been missold - I used the information from Martin's site to assess this, and realised that I had been mis - sold on a number of counts, self-employed, not told that there were alternatives, not told that the insurance was an upfront lump sum. I was told it would be up to 16 weeks to investigate. I received a confirmation letter on 25th October that they were looking at it. Yesterday - 29th of October I received two cheques - amounting to £7,822.00. No forms to fill in, no intermediate companies - the most straightforward and easy insurance claim ever! Thank you so much Martin for your excellent advice.:rotfl:0

Give them a ring back and ask if they can find the other loans,i would have thought they should have found these when looking at the one you claimed on.sicktothestomach wrote: »can anyone tell me do i need an account number to request a copy of a credit agreement? my husband and i have had 3 loans with aliance and leicester i phoned them up to submit a claim against ppi on one that i still had the account number of and within 2 weeks they had paid £789 into our account which was fantastic! however we dont have the account numbers for the other two so how can we get them? thanks in advance
If they cant find them, you will have to request all info that they hold on you, this will cost £10,but should throw the other accounts up.
A lot may depend on the year you took these out.0 -
thanks again amersall. as you can tell i couldnt get him to ring! one of the loans is in his name only so i doubt they will give me the info. we have the pre contract info which shows he had ppi added for £1280 and he said he remembers the girl on the phone being very pushy when he was applying for the loan and suggested he might not get the loan without it.this makes me more adamant to get it back!! he works in a government job and i am a nurse in the nhs so it wouldnt have been any good to us as we both get full sick pay by the way the loan was taken out in feb 2008 and settled early in sept 2009 thanks0

Ring about yours and write to them regarding your hubbys if he wont phone, or tell him to phone and give them permission to speak to you!!,you can do claims with Santander over the phone, this should speed things up, with the years of these loans you dont need a SAR,so that is £20 savedsicktothestomach wrote: »thanks again amersall. as you can tell i couldnt get him to ring! one of the loans is in his name only so i doubt they will give me the info. we have the pre contract info which shows he had ppi added for £1280 and he said he remembers the girl on the phone being very pushy when he was applying for the loan and suggested he might not get the loan without it.this makes me more adamant to get it back!! he works in a government job and i am a nurse in the nhs so it wouldnt have been any good to us as we both get full sick pay by the way the loan was taken out in feb 2008 and settled early in sept 2009 thanks

I filled out my hubby's questionnaires for Lloyds, got him to sign them, and when it was time to phone I just got him to give authorisation for myself to deal with the accounts thereon. We will be £5400 ish better off once the b****y cheques come!:beer:0 -

Hi there
Well done on your success!
How long ago was you paying for the other 2 loans?
If they were active within the last 6 to 8 years, and bank online, and still with the same bank where you paid direct debit, check online and this may allow you to go back to about 2002, the loan account numbers are normally shown next to the monthly loan repayments, but otherwise call into the branch and they may check the systems for you.
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"
