Hi, I know the answers i need are somewhere on her but cant find them so here goes: Just received a long winded load of c..p from MONUMENT re c/c claimand i would love some advice..Opened account in 2002 and paid a monthly premium until 2006.. Used standard mis sell complaint..Here is a summary of their response...
"monument does not and has never sold ppi..it was a payment break plan, not insurancepolicy"( I SAY WHAT WAS IT THEN).
This is protection for your card, should you become unemployed, sick etc,so it is a form of ppi.
They say i may recallcompleting the application form blah blah....(I DIDNT FILL IN A FORM)....You need to write to them and tell them you did not sign a form and you would like proof of this,so you can send this to FOS.They say their records show i agreed over phone prior to account being opened...Next paragraph they say they have no recording of such call.Ask them why they have contradicted their selves, not once but twice!.Again, ask for proof of this to send to FOS..
They say that i have not previously contacted them about PBP...In fact i did only to be told that to cancel may affect my credit limit(7k and nearly maxed out..)Obviously they have no record of such call..
Tell them you tried to cancel this and what you were told, had you known they could not have stopped you cancelling this you would have done.
Please advise on how to progress with this as i am not sure what to do...By the way,,they have offered me £34.50 as a goodwill gesture and no liability PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
Iam doing ok with other claims and will post when i know more..ALL THANKS TO MSE.....
Ask them why they are offering you a goodwill gesture, and you would like the reason in writing, again, tell them so you can send this to FOS, dont forget to decline the gesture of good will, ask them to respond within 14 days or you will take this further.
Dont forget to keep copies of your complaint and the replys you have recieved so that you can send these to FOS.
  • first time post, started ppi claims a+l,abbey, barclays, mbna, all upheld total amount 9.5k so far just the cost of stamp work kindly provided fos forms lol good luck to you all.

My settlement from LTSB turned up today after waiting nearly two months after numerous phone calls and emails.

Settlement letter was dated 5th September and today my redress cheque of £1,778.38 arrived.

That will be last time I have any dealings with LTSB - they are an absolute disgrace.

Good luck to anybody whos's waiting - take comfort in the knowledge they do eventually pay out.
  • Hi,

I am a newbie, wasnt sure whether to post on here or the currently claiming thread. I have received an offer from First Plus of about £10,000ish (if I have worked out the cals correctly). I have sent back acceptance which was received on 19 Oct so got roughly til end Nov (6 weeks) or mid Dec (8 weeks) to receive cheques. I am keen to here when others waiting to hear from First Plus get their cheques on time.

    Morning Zoe

Congrats on your win ;), it is seven weeks this week since my acceptance was sent back and I still have no cheque. I haven't heard of many people receiving there payment at the six week mark I think they keep you hanging on to the last possible minute. Keep looking on here and I will post when they drop on my door mat.

    Good Luck :D
