PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

A strange post, however we have just got back from the Caravan and Campervan show at the NEC in Birmingham. Walking around the caravans was great as that is what we are going to spend the PPI payback on, however we almost missed the most important stall.
The FOS had a stall there with some very knowledgeable gentlemen who gave us some very valuable 1 to 1 advice. The show is over now, today was the last day, however it was worth the admission alone to see and talk to these guys, our case is fairly open and shut apparantly and as said if we knew before hand we would have posted here so others could have visited and kept these guys busy.0 -
Morning folks,
Hope you're all having a great weekend so far.
Having attended some lifelong chums' party last night, I think my sister got a little carried away and spoke of her PPI success, and offered her flat as a venue for our annual Xmas Eve party. However, I'm now concerned that she's spent more money in her head than she's actually likely to receive. I've been going through all her transactions paid to GE, and as a number of you lovely people have shown is how to calculate the monthly installment and PPI (+8%) we were able to come to a figure which relates to 43 payments of £32.16. However, to ask a stupid question, does it matter that the the equivalent of 43 installments was made up over 37 actual transactions? By this I am referring to any missed installments being made up by over payments? (like if my sis was £76 in arrears, she would pay two months of £300 rather then her usual £261 monthly installment?) Or is it just a case of deducting the rebate of £384 from the £1930.04 which would have been paid had the policy run for the full 60 months? It's a real head scratcher! Once we know that for sure, we can then calculate how much had been over paid and then hopefully estimate when monthly payments will end completely. ( we used this little gadget to calculate the monthly payments the FOS have stated it should have been at 10.89%, and got £215 per month. Give it a try

We'd really appreciate some advice here. My poor sis has gone from cloud nine to being a bit deflated that she may not be able to buy as many shoes as she's hoped to.!
Hi there
Really wishing you luck here and hopefully someone will be along soon to go through the calcs for you and on what to expect back, but I would say it would be deducting the rebate.
But hopefully this will be clarified soon, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
FOS contacted me the other day to say that Barclays have finally upheld my cc complaint. It was initially rejected end of August but after contacting CEO and sending further info to both Barclays and FOS, perhaps that was the evidence required to overturn decision. Was exactly a year after I first made my complaint
Will receive payment details from Barclays shortly. Not even going to speculate on how much - happy just to have won - but with ppi being added onto card from 1991, hoping the interest will pile up nicely!
So, to all of you whose complaint was rejected definitely get them to reconsider before contacting FOS. If you have the evidence, hopefully, it will eventually go your way.
And I wouldn't have got this far without the useful advice on this site. Keep up the great work!
Now, hoping for same outcome from HFC...
Well done to you.:j:T Great work and Congratulations!
Good luck with HFC as well.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I have been trying to reclaim Debenhams PPI dating back to 1996. They sold it to me when I was a Full Time Student.
For the past four months I have been told numerous times that I wasn't entitled to anything but never gave up.
To my surprise a cheque arrived last week for £16,000.00 I was shocked but all the hard work was worth it.
Never give up!
My Halifax PPI was also accepted in August but I still await the amount to be released.

Hi eyeryone,
My first time posting on here but have been reading your posts for a long time.
I have have my claims upheld from Lloyds TSB for £11,568:j I waited the full 16 weeks all but a few days but called them every week from week 8 lol. Now they are telling meI have to wait another 6-8 weeks for payment :mad::mad::mad: Why do they take so long!!!!!!!!!!
I had another 5 claims in with RBS and only 2 have been upheld but I applied for them in the same way. I'm thinking of waiting for my cheque from them and then questioning the other three, what does everyone else think?
Congratulations to all who have been sucessful so far
Love LJ X0 -
Hi, can I ask if you still had any paperwork on your Debenhams card because I had one about the same time but I don't have any details xx
No I cleared off my card in 2008 so still had the agreement number on my credit file. I started with GE then passed to Santander then the FLA etc etc etc. All in all from start to finish 15 weeks.0 -

Just a quickie (ooh matron)..Paragon - PPI claim - told me to contact Acorn as they were Broker - Do not exist - Sent form to FSCS - Had a reply this morning from someone called Deloitte? - They want a copy of orig loan - they want the name of the insurer - First of all who are Deloitte? They say they have had a a letter from FSCS to investigate...No one at home on Sat when I rang or at FSCS head quarters...will ring today - Deloitte said in letter if I don't get all the things they want to them in 10 days they may close the case (who made that rule up as it may take 40 days to get SAR from Paragon) - delay tactics me thinks - will ring FSCS first tomorrow and find out more - ONWARDS and UPWARDS0
