PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi there
I would not leave it there, and again as said in so many posts, this seems to be a standard fob off letter.
Even if a final decision was made, they can sometimes change a decision within good reasons you give, so if you have any further info, ask them to reconsider by 14 days.
May I ask when this loan was sold to your mum (year)?
They seem to neglect as well if they business were not regulated at the time of taking out the loan.
Ask them to provide any written evidence on how they came to the decisions to reject the complaint and tell them despite it being signed, that does not excuse this case because of that, as you do believe since hearing of the mis selling of the PPI you have grounds to make a reclaim.
If they do not change the decision by 14 days in your favour, or if you hear nothing maybe you could complain to the FOS if eligible, they should let you know, good luck.;)
Thanks for the advice, it was taken out in 2006. How would I check if it was regulated at the time? Can you explain what you mean by this and implications around PPI?
I will draft a letter for her as you suggest asking for the evidence, and explaining that since hearing about the mis-selling of PPI i believe it's been missold.0 -

Hi there
Don't worry, they were defo regulated by the FSA then, they all had to be from Jan 14 2005.
Normally if they're not regulated, the FOS would not be able to take the case on if you complained but you will be fine if it came to this.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Just dropping in to give you an update on my PPI reclaims. I got letters this morning from HBOS and Tesco (RBS) and both have upheld my complaints. In total it amounts to £4000 refund. As I'm in a DMP they're going to settle the balance I owe them and send me cheques for the outstanding amount.
I also had my complaint from Egg upheld back in June but I'm going to appeal that as they only refunded for 6 years and as I cancelled the PPI 5 years ago then they basically only refunded for 1 year and I'd had the card since 1999. I submitted a SAR and they supplied me with all of the statements back to 1999 so I'm appealing to the FOS.
The nice thing about this is that it's more than enough from today's refunds to pay off what I'm owing all of my creditors which means that by the end of November I will be completely debt free yay!!
And it's thanks to Martin and this forum that I decided to lodge my complaints so cheers to you all:beer:

Write to them again, tell them you do not agree with the decision they made, and tell them all you have said as above.
Tell them you definately have grounds to make a reclaim and feel they have failed treating your complaint seriously. (and that you are considering taking this matter further).
What they said is sometimes a standard fob off, even if ticked or signed for at the time, it does not mean you were not mis sold, you still have your reasons and besides it could have been you were told where to sign and it was ticked/marked by them anyway, so do give it another shot, ask them to reconsider by 14 days, with the above info and anything else you can think of that applies to you, if you hear nothing by then or they do not change the decision, they should at least let you know if your eligible to complain to the financial ombudsman service (FOS).
Good luck.;)
Hi
Thankyou very much for the advise. Yes I think I will give it another go and see how I get on. They did state in the letter that I did have the option to go to the FSO, but aware that this is a very long winded process so would have rather have sorted out with them direct.0 -
I have been trying to reclaim Debenhams PPI dating back to 1996. They sold it to me when I was a Full Time Student.
For the past four months I have been told numerous times that I wasn't entitled to anything but never gave up.
To my surprise a cheque arrived last week for £16,000.00 I was shocked but all the hard work was worth it.
Never give up!
My Halifax PPI was also accepted in August but I still await the amount to be released.

Claim put in to Egg at the end of May to reclaim PPI on 14k loan taken out in 2006 and repaid by March 2010
Filled in the form after reading advice on this site, sent it off received an acknowledgement after a week, then a more time needed letter, a further one about the waiver. Then last night I came home to a letter to say they were upholding my claim and there was a cheque for £3500!
Happy days!
Still waiting to hear from NatWest on a credit card PPI claim tho...!
Jusy over the 16 week deadline Natwest have wriiten to me with an offer for refunding the PPI on my credit card. Card was taken out in 1994 when I was an 18 year old student.PPI was missold as I was wasn't working at the time as I was about to go to uni full time to do a degree. I didnt cancel th ePPI until 2008 when Martin went public with the misseliing info. They have offered me £3200 befor interest.
Unlike Egg they have sent a form that must be returned before a cheque is issued - 28 days from receipt of acceptance apparently. Stil should make for a good pre-Christmas boost to my account!LB moment March 08 - 11k debt,

Hi all,
My evenings in front of the television have recently and often been disturbed by 'cold callers' offering to act on my behalf in the reclamation of PPI. Given my financial history with mortgage / loans etc, I would say that there is a very good chance that at some point , I have been mis-sold.
I have read the horror figures of 40% fees and the success stories of 1000's in repayment but would not know where to start.
Would the recent spate of calls indicate that I have been mis-sold PPI at some point ? Do they have 'inside' information causing them to target me or are they just chancing their arm in the hope of a bumper payout for doing very little ?. Where do they get their information from ?
Any help would be much appreciated
