  • I can't see it anywhere but about 5 years ago barclays automatically changed my current account to something else and I had to pay a fee for this type of account. I had never had an overdraft before and didn't want one then but when I rang to try and cancel they were very crafty in telling me this was an all singing all dancing account more or less! Could the overdraft ppi have been in this fee? Thanks for helping folks x
  • Had a letter from Barclaycard today saying they will not be upholding my ppi claim. They said they have reviewed the circumstances and info and found no evidence of Mis-sale. They say they gave reviewed details of income and expenditure at point of sale and are comfortable that sales advisor adequately assessed affordability. They say sales advisors at the time of sale required advisors to discuss affordability. They cannot find evidence to suggest this did not take place. They say the sales process used at the time of the sale required staff to state the policy was optional and they can find no reason to suggest this was not discussed.

I am unsure whether to reply to barclaycard or go to FOS. I applied for this online and I know I never asked for the policy and have no signed documentation etc. Can anyone help on how to reply.

    Thanks in advance

Hi from my Barclays statements the overdraft protection is separate from the account fee. They tend to be debited on the same day but are shown as separate charges.

We do not appear to have any of our maths wizards on at the moment :D:D

You need to put the ppi total and monthly amount and if you had the cashback and what the amount was,if you do this and keep bumping your post,i am sure someone will work this out for you.
  • Hey, I had my complaint upheld by hsbc today but the figure is low in my opinion so I think I am going to reject it and go to FOS. They are saying I didn't have PPI on my card however I think I did when the card was first activated in 1998 and I cancelled the PPI at some stage after that once I realised how expensive it was - their records do not got back that far. They are only offering PPI rebate (small) and 8% interest, should there not be a small goodwill gesture?? I thought I had read on the FOS PPI examples that £200-£400 was suggested. Since my claim seems to be so low...... :(

    Hiya

Sorry to hear this, but this does sound like one of the standard fob off responses, afterall they state they are unable to find evidence.

Its been known even in a final decision that the decision can be overturned, so you can always give it another go by asking them to review by 14 days, by telling them you do not agree with the decision they made on your complaint and feel they have overlooked your particular reasons.

And confirm you can't find any reasons on why they should reject your complaint.
You recall it was purchased online and cannot recall on ticking or accepting the PPI, so you realise now it must have been an opt out option, but did not understand this at the time, I must have assumed it was all part of the application.

I would make a point that another reason why you do not agree with their decision, is because you did not have an adviser, so for this reason you feel they have overlooked or not even investigated your complaint properly, and if they did please provide the written evidence you have of the sale.
And anything else you can think of.

As a valued customer you are asking they reconsider your reasons, and give them any further info that may also apply to you to support your complaint.

If you hear nothing by 14 days, or if the decision stays the same, then complain to the FOS.

Hope that makes sense.;) And hope it helps, good luck.:)
