  • I have a loan with EGG. Years ago i stopped the PPI after i realised what it was and that they were using my monthly installments to pay the PPI off rather than the loan. they credited my account with £700 at that point but refused to refund me the payments already made.

I called Egg after they transferred my loan to Moorgate and said i wanted to claim back my ppi payments. I had a letter through telling me it could take 12 weeks for a decision. within 5 weeks i received my cheque for £2977.15 and have had an additional £680 paid of the balance of my loan :)

now I just have to pay the rest of it off.....

Hi hvae just received an "up held" offer from Barclays on an old loan that I took out on 6/1/04. But I dont know if these figures sound correct so could please someone help me work out if it does sound correct. If any more info is needed I will try and find it:

The PPI on the loan was for £1224.08 and the interest added to this was £623.92 making the total payable for the PPI £1848.00 (the actual loan was for £5000 and I think it might have been for over 5 years). The loan was taken out on 6/1/04 and repaid around September 2005.

The have offered me (including 8% interest to include 40 more days!!) £379.19.

I just think this sounds a bit low. I do realise I would have had a refund when I paid it off but does anyone else think this sounds a low offer? They say its their final offer and if I have any complaints to go to the FOS to complain.
HI there, this is the best i can do i am afraid :D

    ppi-£1848.00 divided by 60 months = £30.80 a month ppi.

you paid this for 20 months =£646.80
    8% on those payments =£359.31

Add those 2 together = £1.006.11 this is your redress. take this off the ppi total £1.848.00 =£841.90
You need to find out what the refund of ppi was when you settled the loan,it could be the £841.90 as this only ran 20 months.

    Does this help?.

Had a letter from Barclaycard today saying they will not be upholding my ppi claim. They said they have reviewed the circumstances and info and found no evidence of Mis-sale. They say they gave reviewed details of income and expenditure at point of sale and are comfortable that sales advisor adequately assessed affordability. They say sales advisors at the time of sale required advisors to discuss affordability. They cannot find evidence to suggest this did not take place. They say the sales process used at the time of the sale required staff to state the policy was optional and they can find no reason to suggest this was not discussed.

I am unsure whether to reply to barclaycard or go to FOS. I applied for this online and I know I never asked for the policy and have no signed documentation etc. Can anyone help on how to reply.

    Thanks in advance
As you applied for this online, you need to ask them what evidence they have that their salesperson said this to you,and as they can find no reason to suggest this was not discussed, ask them how this managed to be conducted online.
If this is a final response, you may find they will not deal with you now,you can ring them and try,but if that fails you will have to go to FOS.
