You won't be surprised to know that the money is NOT in my account today. Where do we go from here? Will they add more interest on for the later payment and will that then delay it even more? I would not mind but I didn't even ask what date it would be paid in - they told me.

Once this is all over I would like to change banks but they all seem much the same. Is there a bank out there that anyone could recommend? If there is it must be a very short list!

    Hi Topkapi
Mine wasn't in either today ( wasn't expecting it to be either to be honest) I managed to speak to someone in the PPI team and this is what I was told

" We will be adding interest everyday until the day we send your payment out/put in bank account and no you won't have to be recalculated"

"We are paying out as soon as we can as it is costing the banks more money in the long run, the longer it takes to pay out"

"Each claim is taking approx 20 mins to manually be processed to avoid errors, here is where the late interest is added"

"Staff are working evenings and Saturdays to clear the backlog"

Somebody from the payments team, a Louise Thompson I believe, is supposed to be ringing me within 48 WORKING hours to give me an idea on the timescale we should expect (laugh a minute)

The lady I spoke too also said the money should have been in my account yesterday, not today....they really do start the '28 days' from the day they receive your acceptance (shock horror)

Will let you know more if/when I hear from Louise Thompson as the lady I spoke to didn't have any idea how far behind the payouts were.

Keep your chin up....think of all that added interest :rotfl:

OMG! OMG! OMG!!!!! I've just come home to a letter from Barclays...I have had some loans that I re-financed dating back to 2000, including a big one for £30k when I had my extension built. I though I might get £2000 maybe. Imagine my surprise when I read my estimate letter....£14,728.32. To say I am gobsmacked is an understatement!!!! And to sweeten it further, another letter with £197 for overdraft PPI. Now just waiting for offer on husband's loans which were refused as they said they had no details of, but I had sent the policies with the claim forms...so I emailed Bob Diamond on Saturday, and got another letter today to say it had been re-opened.

£14000 - oh my word! Thank you to this forum...holiday in Florida already booked. Daughter's driving lessons booked. Refurbishment of dining room! Yay!!! I am sooo happy! :money::money::money::money:

Hi well done on your win.:T

Did you ask them to investigate your overdraft protection payments or did they do it automatically?

The reason I ask is I have claimed for overdraft protection payments and am awaiting a response, I have been paying £10.50 for the last 14+ years. Hopefully I should hear in 3 weeks.

    Thanks in advance
    Mortgage Feb 2015 £178,500 END 2043!!

    MFW 2015 £100 /£1000

Watch this space, my MF end date will tumble!!

Following my email to Steve Hester - RBS CEO, I received this back today...

Thank you for your email which has been received by Stephen Hester’s office.

All complaints relating to Payment Protection Insurance are dealt with by a specialist team based in Manchester. The nature of these complaints and the complex calculations that are required mean that our staff need specialist skills to be able to deal with them.

As a result we agreed with the Financial Service Authority a more realistic timeframe for responding. That said, we aim to provide a reply as quickly as possible.

I have forwarded your letter to the PPI team and they will be in touch once they have completed their investigation.

If in the interim you need to speak with a colleague in our PPI team you can call them on 0161 755 6890.

    Yours sincerely

Doesn't look like I'm any nearer to getting my money back!

    Hi
I had the same response on Friday and responding along the lines of
'specialist staff not that special as had three different responses' I then asked for a Managers contact. Have received nothing despite chasing it up
My 28 days is up Friday but notholding my breath. Glad I no longer bank with 'the muppett show'

My partner received a letter from HSBC today, confirming her complaint has been upheld and the amount they're offering to settle the complaint.

A whopping £4,500, woohoo! The breakdown of their offer is interesting, the PPI policy amounts to about £3000 over the five year loan agreement, the rest is made up of a redress amount + interest + interest on the original PPI policy cost. Interest on the letter is set at 8%.

The complaint was submitted in June this year, so it's taken about four months to get the offer, not too bad :)

Hopefully the transfer of the refund in to the nominated account won't take four months.

All it took was an hour of work one June evening completing the questionnaire! Very pleased indeed.
