Rang First Plus yesterday to ask when I would get my cheque (8 weeks up today - they received my acceptance on 17/8/11 so exactly 8 weeks ago). The just took my number and said someone would call me back within 24 hours. They rang me back this morning and just said that the cheque had been processed and a letter date 11/10/11 (yesterday) had been sent stating that the cheques were on their way (apparently the amount for 8% is a separate cheque for some reason). I am at work and wont know if the postman has brought me a nice letter until I get home!! I am going home early to check and if its there it will be straight to the bank - but I am not holding my breath I bet the cheques havent even been sent out yet!!![/QUOTE

Talk about dragging there heels hun, everything crossed that they are sitting there when you get home ;).
  • I decided to try my luck reclaiming PPI as I had agreed to it simply to get the loan. I downloaded & filled in teh claim form stating that as I was under huge pressure due to mounting debts when I took the loan out I didnt understand that the PPI was optional, plus my parents would have helped me out had I had any problems repaying the loan. I received a letter yesterday offering me a refund plus interest - a total of over £13,000! I have accepted & am awaiting the payment. Only drawback is that you have to pay income tax on the interest part, but its still well worth doing :)

    Hello,

I have just been on the phone to Barclays (for over an hour) and I am now feeling a bit concerned, can anyone help????

I was given an estimate 7 week ago of £3449 for 2 loans over 6 years totalling £7500. I was delighted with the offer but have now been told that I will be refunded £1260 plus £415 which is nearly £2000 less then the estimate!!!!!! Surely this cannot be correct? The lady did mention at first a refund of £1776 which when I added the 3 amounts together are very close to the estimate. Can anyone shed any light? Just to recap the amounts given are:

    £1776 Loan 1
    £1260 Loan 2
    £415 Unknown

    Thanks,

    Tony.
  • Following my email to Steve Hester - RBS CEO, I received this back today...

Thank you for your email which has been received by Stephen Hester’s office.

All complaints relating to Payment Protection Insurance are dealt with by a specialist team based in Manchester. The nature of these complaints and the complex calculations that are required mean that our staff need specialist skills to be able to deal with them.

As a result we agreed with the Financial Service Authority a more realistic timeframe for responding. That said, we aim to provide a reply as quickly as possible.

I have forwarded your letter to the PPI team and they will be in touch once they have completed their investigation.

If in the interim you need to speak with a colleague in our PPI team you can call them on 0161 755 6890.

    Yours sincerely

That looks like the standard reply RBS were sending out before the 31 August and has nothing to do with cheques I think

    Hi there
This is the same reply I got. I just sent another stating how difficult it was to get thro' by phone and how inconsistent the info given out was. I asked for his views on this and a reason why the stated timescale on the offer letter had been missed. To be honest we know the reasons why - bad management and lack of staff.
    Cheers.

Exactly right... I've actually not had too much trouble getting through on the phone. In fact I called today and got straight through to someone without even going on hold!! Try this number if you haven't already - 0845 6014034, option 1 then 3...
  • Yippee.. Fos ruled in my favour in July and after 12 weeks still no reply from hsbc. Emailed the CEO on Monday and had a phone call on Tuesday with my calculation.

£6896 to be repaid in 15 working days...
