    Wow wow wow.

    :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

After taking your advice guys, and e-mailing Bob Diamond, Firstplus have changed their minds and actually upheld my complaint!!!!

Came back from a lovely two weeks in Cyprus, to an email informing me of the great news, and a letter for the full redress.

What a turn up for the books!!!:D:D:D:D:D:D

£3930 refunded premiums paid plus 8% interest

£10033 taken off the rest of the loan:money::money::money:
So That makes it £13,963 total refunded:j:j

Just goes to show that even if you get knocked back first time, keep at it, good things come to those who wait!!!!

Thanks to everyone who helped me with this, I could not have done it without you all, and no doubt would have stopped at the first hurdle had I not had your guidence.

You guys are all great THANKYOU :A:A:A:A:A

    Love

Absolutely thrilled for you. Well done.

Hi there, when you are paid redress, you get ppi back that you have paid to date, were any of these settled early?.

You will get back ppi paid to date with 8%,if the loan was settled early you would have had a rebate of ppi for this on the settlement figure you paid, this will be taken off any redress you recieve.

What was the total ppi on both loans, the monthly ppi amount and when was the first payment on each and the last on each?.
If you can provide these figures someone will help you with the calculation.

Hi amersall & thanks for the reply, i can not give any details until my calculation forms from Barclays come through. I thought i had taken out 2 loans of 3k each but i have been told that it was actually one loan for 3k & another for 4.5k so i am confused already lol, anyway i got the feeling from the first phone call that the lady was not quite sure about the whole thing so i phoned again & was told that i would be getting a refund of all the 3 amounts added together which is in fact just above the estimate so for now i can rest lol.

I had a letter from Barclays a couple of weeks ago also with an estimated figure. Not heard anything since then but it's early days. I do know my offer letter does say that they will need to do some more work to arrive at the final amount but that it won't be less than the estimate. Have you still got the letter which gives you the estimated figure? Maybe it's a standard letter and it might have the same wording as mine?

Hi there, i phoned Barclays back & luckily got some one who seamed to understand a little more. He said that i would be getting back all the three ammounts quoted to me over the phone which is just above the estimated figure. I was told that the calculation sheets were sent to me on the 19th Sept which was just under 4 weeks from the date of my estimate letter but i never received them so i would urge you to chase them up at some point. I asked when i would receive the refund & was just told that it would be soon!!!!!! If your letter was the same as mine than it stated that i would receive the money within 40 days (working) which is next Thursday so i will be staying up to just gone midnight to check my online balance again :D

Well, I feel as if a lot of you are friends. Although this is my first time posting, I've been lurking in the background a long time, reading the forums - mostly the funny threads. Awhile back, though, I started reading the PPI threads and decided to follow Martin's advice on claiming back my PPI which I genuinely felt had been missold. I'd previously tried (twice) to claim on it for long-term illness and twice they wriggled out of it on a technicality which I was not made aware of at the time of taking it out. Basically, I had an accident and hurt my lower back which incapacitated me for about 9 months. When I tried to claim on the insurance, they said that it wasn't covered as I'd previously had a strained muscle in my upper back/neck (whiplash about 6 years perviously following a car shunt)....this was only muscular - had all the tests at the time and it cleared up with some simple painkillers and a couple of weeks rest. However, when I hurt my lower back (had a slipped disc demonstrated on x-rays), they said "a back is a back".
Anyway, after reading the forum, I decided to lodge a claim for mis-selling. I followed Martin's claim plan and filled in the form, printed it out and sent it off to Barclaycard. I got 3 delaying letters - each time puting the response date further and further off.
Today, however, I just received their letter saying they upheld my complaint and making me a first and final offer of - wait for it - can hardly believe it myself - a whopping £62,784 !!!!!
So needless to say, I'm a very happy bunny today and wanted to say a HUGE thank you to Martin, his team, and all you helpful forum people.....you really are a great bunch of people and I just wanted to let you know, if you are thinking about it, or are waiting for a decision - don't give up hope.
    Thanks again friends

...and for the couple of people who don't believe me - I'm sorry you feel that I am lying, but I'm not. I've no idea how they calculated the backdated interest - it must have been right back from when I first had creditcard and loan for house improvements (well over 20 years ago) ....and no, my balance wasn't in the hundreds of thousands. I just used my card for all the big purchases/spends as a way to help budget - not great budgeting sense, I know now, and I'll never have a credit card balance again.

If it helps those who are waiting for their payouts: when I telephoned to enquire about the offer, (I'd thought it was a typo   ) but after they checked and confirmed it was right, I was told that because of the amount involved, it would go through an extra couple of security levels and would have to be signed off by a Director, so it could take about 8 weeks. They said it would be paid into my credit card account in the first instance (as a way of tracking the back payment) but then it would be paid back out to me either by cheque or bank transfer - whichever I preferred.

I still can't quite believe it and keep going back to look at the offer letter :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T:T

Hi Louise, thanks for sharing your story, shame you have to go the explanation for some folks, brilliant result, excellent win.
Hope you get your money soon, then you can tell us about your round the world, cruise, sports cars etc etc.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.
  • Hi guys and gals,

I hope the successes and happiness have continued within our little community today.
I'd like to begin by giving a bit of advice to the folks reading our forum for perhaps the first time and maybe considering using one of the claims management companies. If so, please listen as I say this loud and clear. DO NOT APPROACH THESE PEOPLE, EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. I had the misfortune of speaking to one of these muppets, from a well known company, today who told me in one breath that Norton had rejected the final response from the FOS, and then later that my sis would be receiving all the ppi premiums, plus 8% and a further £200. As my sister's carer, I then spoke to him and asked that, since the ombudsman had ruled that my sis should be now be put into the same position as she would have been in, had she not purchased the ppi. My question to the guy at the CMC was then what would happen to the overpayments she had made, and have him a hypothetical situation where if she has paid £300 per month, when she should have only paid £225, plus the £32 in ppi, what would happen to the remaining £43; the 'change' as it were. The guy didn't understand, so I broke it down as if you were paying for an item cost 48p and another for 22p, with a £1.00 coin, asking where would the excess 30p go? He said it went to the insurance company, and we'd need to lodge a separate complaint to get back the overpayments on the loan. This disturbs me greatly, as if my sis still has to pay the £3000 left on the loan, even though she's already repaid £11,718.66, which is more than 48 payments of the amount she should have been paying without the PPI (£225 Per month I think) she'll end up having repaid nearly £15,000 anyway, which is just as much as if the ppi had run for the full 60 months. This is very confusing, as surely a loan of £10,000 at a rate of 10.89% shouldn't be much more than £13,000 on total (according to GE's website) and she'll have made over £2000 in overpayments.
Does anyone have a better idea of what happens now? Surely the overpayments, excluding the PPI premiums, go towards paying the remaining balance. Or am I living in cloud cuckoo land? The numpty at the CMC couldn't tell me, so we're in the dark again. :(
  • Wow......fudgin hell <<< am I allowed to say that?
    • Congrats to those BIG winners today:T:T:T:T:T
