I took out a M&S store card in 1995 that ran until 2006 with PPI on it and a personal loan from 1999 to 2006 that also had ppi insurance on it. I have already raised my complaint with M&S money and they have declined it as it was not covered by the FOS at the time. I have raised all the paperwork with the FOS and they have declined the complaint for the same reason but told me to pursue the insurance company Allianz which I have done. This has also been denied by the insurance companies so I have gone through the FOS aswell in August 2010. Every few months I get a letter from the FOS saying that they are still looking into my complaint. I have received another letter from the FOS as follows.
"We continue to consider the complex legal arguments involved. I am sorry, this is taking longer than we would like. But it is very important that we investigate thoroughly as we need to decide whether we are legally allowed to look into your concerns about the sale of your policy.
We will continue to keep you updated on our progress and we will write to you again by 30 November 2011."
Has anyone managed to claim against the insurance company vis M&S in the same way?0 -
How I wish I could remember who I took out a loan with. It was over 10 years ago, paid off before the loan expiry date (because a day before payment a nasty man would ring me up ranting that I must not forget the payment was due and if I didn't pay it blah! blah!! blah!!) I got sick of this one month, asked him how much left remaining on loan, he told me and I paid it off in full. The !!!!!! but I just can't for the life of me remember who it was with
Been advised on here that the credit check doesn't go that far back. May have to let this one go. Damnation!! :mad:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

I have just received £4800 from the co-op for a loan taken out 10yrs ago. Luckily I had kept some documentation about it. Now I have just received two offers from RBS for two separate loans taken out 8yrs and 3 yrs ago. I have been offered a total of £13,000! The only thing I did for all 3 applications was to complete the forms downloaded from the Financial Ombudsman's website as recommended by Martin Lewis. Martin you are a star!!!! thank you ever so much for all your advice etc over the years. You have not only helped me claim back all this money but have saved me loads of money over the years with all your advice. You should get a Knighthood!!:j0

So does it work out better for you then? Assuming so, you'll have them by the short and curlies once more, well done Di.:D
Cheers honey
Well I am not really sure, so working through what we do have in paperwork, this goes back to at least 1996-7, so about 15 years ago really.
We shall see.:D;) xThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Paulie_Walnut wrote: »Hi everyone, I'd just like to let you know that after following the advice and process here on MoneySaving Expert, Lloyds TSB yesterday sent me a letter telling me my claim had been successful.
Quick background: Back in 2005 I was diagnosed with Diabetes and in the May of that year I carried out a substantial loan with Lloyds to consolidate an existing loan and a Credit Card. At the time I was sold the loan I wasn't asked about any pre-existing medical conditions and after reading the small print discovered that at no point would I have been able to activate the PPI if I'd needed to as the condition excluded me.
So back at the beginning of June I logged onto here and followed the process of contacting Lloyds with a breakdown of my complaint and after an initial telephone call from them was told it would be eight weeks before they'd contact me. At the eight week point I'd heard nothing so I contacted them again and they informed me that it would be a further eight weeks because of the large number they were dealing with.
Sure enough the day after the deadline, a letter arrived informing me that not only had I been successful in reclaiming PPI on the loan but also on two previous loans (even though I had only claimed against the last one I was sold).
The result, with the interest etc, I am now £9,850 better off. The cheeky part in the letter stated that of course I would be subject to tax on the interest and would have to inform HMRC.... no real apology for them causing the situation in the first place. Anyway I won't complain....
So I hope my story along with other successes on here will spur more people to claim back what they are owed..... especially those with medical conditions which would have excluded them from claiming PPI. I only had to contact Lloyds twice and didn't have to fight for a thing.... I hope others will find it as easy
Excellent!:T:j thank you for sharing your story/experience with us, and Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
