Managed to speak to RBS today after only three minutes hanging on. Confirmed they received my acceptance letter on 05/09/11 and I would be paid out on 12/10/11 which is exactly 28 WORKING days after letter received so watch this space next Wednesday when it should be paid into my account.

Just one thing that I don't understand and wonder if anyone can advise me. It was a seven year loan taken out in DEC 2004 with first payment taken out in JAN 2005. The monthly payments are £478.14 of which £111.00 is PPI. When I asked if the last few payments would now be reduced the lady said that I only paid PPI for 5 years so my payments would remain the same till the end of the loan. My payments have been £478.14 for the past seven years and have never changed and I have never missed a payment. Did she mean I was only covered for five years? If so then that was NEVER explained to me. I did ask and she said they just spread it out over the length of the loan. Does that sound right? Getting back over £14,000 so am a happy bunny anyway.

Since posting this I have received another letter from RBS offering me a refund of over £8,000 for loans that I don't even remember taking out. OMG!! Who am I to argue with them. Acceptance letters signed and posted off. Will sit back and wait for money to go into bank. That will be over £22,000 in total. Absolutely amazing.

What a pity Martin doesn't have a charity where we could all deposit say 1% for our refunds and say that it is all down to him. I will be making a donantion to Help for Heroes as my son has done eight years in the army and has lost more than one of his friends.

Fabulous result Topkapi :T and what a good idea for the site to have a favourite charity that people could donate to. If my claim is upheld I would certainly do so.

I too have have appalling levels of help and service from lloyds and have also emailed the ceo,as I had my claim upheld in august and was assured that by the 5th of October my cheque would be sent to me if not here, only to ring up and be told that they do not know why I was told that because they cant even guarentee being paid before christmas.I told them if I owed them that money I would have a bailiff kicking my door down ,but because they owe me the money I am fobbed off passed from pillar to post and spoken to as if I am something they have stood in on the street,I have banked with them since I was a child and my kids bank there too....clearly loyalty means nothing to these people. Thanks Sam
Hi --again this makes me wild,i heard a few weeks ago, have had my calculations ,although not happy with them,as only 8% interest put on (in line with fos regs they say )i had my money put on my account within two weeks, that was about 10 days ago,and yet my son whose ppi was done the same time,as still not received his £5000 redress back yet,i think the way they are behaving is shocking.
    :(

Since posting up earlier of the 2 loan ppi success via Lloyds on 2 older loan accounts from the 90's, they had given a standard offer on both due to lack of info (as they no longer hold all the details), so unless I come across anything I can send them for them to reconsider a higher amount.
    The offer on both is at the moment - £1,200.00 x 2 = £2,400.00.

A copy of the letter below, but I have actually since found the details they require through searching through every room in my house today.

    Dear

Thank you for your patience whilst I have been investigating your complaints, as I know it may have been some time since you first contacted us.

As you may be aware, the rules determin how we should assess your complaint were being considered by the Court as part of the legal proceedings between the BBA, FSA and FOS. Now that we have received an outcome from the Court, we are able to send you our final response to your complaint.

    Our Offer

As our final response, we would like to offer you £1,200.00 for each of the loans above to bring your complaint to a conclusion.

Due to the passage of time, we no longer have any detailed records relating to your loan accounts. The absence of detailed records means that even if we were able to assume the amount and the term of the loan based, for example, on your recollections, there is no guarantee our calculations would be accurate, as we have no way of knowing when the loan was settled or if any claims have been paid under the policy.

In a genuine attempt to resolve your complaint our offer of £1,200.00 is equal to our average compensatory payment. We have agreed with the FOS than an average payment method in cases such as yours is fair and reasonable.

So as to help you understand this further, when a complaint is upheld and we hold full details of the account, the offer will take into account the PPI premiums paid plus simple interest at 8%. The offer will also take into account any other factors that are relevant to the customer's circumstances. For example, whether a successful claim against the policy had been made of if a partial refund of PPI premiums had already been made.

We would also include a refund of premiums (and other costs you incurred e.g interest) in connection with the PPI policies with the loans that had been refinanced (or were refinanced by) the loan/PPI complained about.

However, if you have any details about your loan which you feel would increase the payment that you should receive, such as a copy of your loan statements showing the commencement date and the date the loan closed, please let me know as soon as possible and I will consider the matter further. If upon receipt of your documentation it is apparent that your refund should be greater that that offered we will recalculate using the new information our offer and pay the higher amount.

In addition, you may have also attempted to make a claim for your PPI policy in the past which was rejected. If you are concerned if the claim was accepted, we may need more information from you. Please call us at the number below.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE CONTACT US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO ACCEPT OUR OFFER ON 0845 602 6993.

If we do not hear from you we will close your complaint, consider it resolved and make the payment outlined in this letter.
If in any doubt whether or not to accept this offer then you should seek independent advice from your finanical adviser if you have one, or an advice line like the CAB.
If you have any other questions on this letter, or if you would like to reject our offer then please call us on 0845 602 6993.

In the event that you do not accept our offer, you have the right to refer your complaint to the FOS. Any referral must be within six months of the date of this letter.

    Yours sincerely
