RBS agreed that they had missold my PPI and that they would give me a full refund. I had to sign and return an acceptance form before they would confirm the amount. They received this on the 7th September and I've not not heard anything back.

Apparently I then need to accept the amount they offer before they send the cheque so who knows when I'm actually going to get the money back that they STOLE from me...

How comes they get 16 weeks to respond saying they will return the money yet there is no time limit on when they need to return our money??? My original claim letter was sent in June and I'm still waiting

We sent our acceptance form back on the 28/8/11 and we have still not received our refund yet. I have just sent Mr Hester an e-mail.

    What were you reclaiming: PPI
    Who was the provider: Barclaycard
How much did you get back: £19,220.74
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After letter
And then write your brief reclaim tale
YES YES YES £19,220.74!!!!!!!!!! I still cant quite believe it. Have had a Barclaycard since around 1990, they calculated the sum based on the last 5 years or so. One letter, couple of minutes of my time. I am stunned!!!! And very very happy!!!

Congratulations, was wondering how much of your refund was for premiums paid, and what was your balance on the card?? Thanks

I've typed up my compliant letter and going to post it on my way home from work.

Best forget about it now for 3 months as I'm sure they'll be a huge back log.

Thanks all for the advice :D
Good luck and let us know how you get on x.:D
  • I have recently made a PPI claim on an MBNA credit card that I took out in 1999. I did this on my own with the use of a form that I got off the Which ? website. It was very easy to complete I would recommend it to anyone. MBNA have upheld my complaint and are willing to pay me £225.22 (which they say is the total premiums charged since sale date), plus interest, plus 8%. My problem is that I don't think the £225.22 can be correct. I still have my credit card statements going back 4years to Sept 2007 and according to my calculations in these 4 years I paid a total of £126.35. There are still 8 years remaining and I feel that I would have paid more than £98. 87 in premiums in 8 years. I have asked MBNA to review the claim and sent the details to the Financial Ombusman. However, part of the total amount has been credited to my card and the remainder has been sent to me by cheque along with a letter stating the cheque is in full and final settlement of my complaint. I am worried that if I cash this cheque I am accepting this offer as being final? Can anyone help me on the legalities of this ?

I know FP are good at bending the rules but:

If we take the cheque why does the refund (A) then get added back onto the loan?

Why dont we get the interest (E) payed back to us?
When you paid the ppi each month, this will have had interest on that was taken off the balance of the loan, you now have a refund of the ppi with interest,so if you didnt have ppi your balance would not have reduced by the ppi plus interest amount so they have to put this interest back on the balance of the loan.
Hope you understand this !!! it took me ages to get my head round this when i won mine back with FP.

They have 28 working days from when your acceptance went on their system. This is what they are aiming for and not necessarily what will happen but they seem to be paying out more timeously than other banks. My complaint went in july 2010, offer received 2nd sept 2011 and acceptance on their system 9th sept. I have called them a few times and the are sticking to the 28 days so fingers crossed.
    Cheers.

Thanks... They have told me that it "WAS" 28 days but due to a backlog it's taking longer and they cannot even estimate a date to me  It's now been 31 days since the day they confirmed the acceptance was logged on their systems!

I'm sorry, I haven't a clue what I am doing here. Was the above reply for me ? If it was I'm sorry but I don't understand your reply. Who are FP ?
Sorry it was not for you,it was the poster whose words are in the green bit!!!:D
In answer to your post,i believe if you accept this cheque and bank it,it is the end of your complaint.

Do you have anymore statments showing the ppi you paid for the months they havent paid you?,as this i am afraid is all they will look at again in regards to your complaint.

:j:jWell done on your win though :D:T

Well done and Congratulations to all recent winners!
    :T:beer::rotfl:

I received my letter in the post today from lloyds, 2 old loans from 16 years ago, they lacked details because of the age, and even though i know the first loan was £5000 over 5 years and monthly repayment at just over £111.18 a month and it was settled a year and a half on to take out a further loan with ppi, but nothing in concrete evidence.

So even though the email received stated they have upheld these 2 old loan ppi complaints, due to lack of info these are offered on a standard offer of £1,200.00 for each one, so total in at £2,400.00 for the both.

I think I will have to accept, yet with the first one being 16 years old, the interest would have been pretty high, but lack of concrete evidence does not help.

Still I suppose at least its better than nothing and they could have refused on investigating - due to lack of evidence.
