Yeah me too pal, we just had redress off Clydesdale for about £5.5k and paid off a £5k CC balance with Bank Of Scotland, nothing felt as good(well apart from a few things;)) in a long loong time, and we just got our new statement in, with just a few quid of interest between last statement and when we paid it off so that will be clear at the end of the month, we also reduced the limit to £1k for emergencies and now don't have to pay £150 a month to it and taking about 30 years to pay it off:eek:

smitchy....when did you take your cb loan out??was it over 7 years ago??
    Hope your ok bud:j:jxx
  • please help, don't know if I'm in right place, I have always refused ppi's and they have never been shown on any repayments I have ever made but I am being told that they could have hidden any charges in the interest even though the payments were what was agreed on the form or phone. can this be true ?
sorry if I got this in wrong place

    thanks

Hope you don't mind me asking when did you open the account and when did you close it because i think mine was 1998-2002 and because they don't seem to be keeping files for longer then 6 years i think that maybe thats what there going by.Someone posted on here that they no longer had he's file before 2002 so they went by a basic assumption when they worked out he's redress because he's still using the card.
I opened it sometime in the early 80's ( I know ), face to face in a branch along with a savings account. I was a civil servant at the time but I can remember insurance being mentioned. I had the card until 2008 and by the time I closed it I had a 10,000 balance. I don't know if I cancelled the insurance a long time ago but all of this was on my complaints form which makes me convinced they don't even read them !
  • Two months ago I had a bit of a panic and I thought I was not going to be able to pay my visa minimum payment that month. I rang Lloyds and was referred to their Customer Referral place who I then gave my whole life story to. They decided to put my card on 'block' for the time being as it was in their words irresponsible to let me have any further funds.
I foolishly thought that this would only apply if I did nt make the payment as I foolishly thought that being upfront would help.
I then spoke to my partner who told me not to be stupid and agreed to give me more housekeeping each month. Sorted. Two direct debits later, no arrears, I thought I'd ring them to make sure they had not blocked my card in case I needed to use it. I was told they had closed my account!!! After much screaming I was told they had nt actually closed it, it was however blocked until I could prove I could pay it, for 'at least three more months'.

I have been with Lloyds for 20+ years, had platinum visa, platinum service current and savings account, insurance, loans etc and never once have I missed a payment. I ring up once with concerns and they close down my account. For the journey my a**e.

Anyway to get to the point. I,m expecting a ppi refund for the same , now blocked card. If my payments are up to date, which they will be, can lloyds use the refund to pay off my visa? Or am I within my rights to demand it to be put into my bank account?
    Any advice greatly appreciated.

    Good Morning All
    :T:T:T:T:T:T:T:TCongratulations to all winners:T:T:T:T:T:T

Just received letter from Lloyds for Credit Card offer £10366.79 to be paid direct in to my current account

    Calculations:
Difference between the actual and revised balance £10,144.13
Credit Interest at 8% per annum simple 222.66

    TOTAL £10,366.79

    Does this sound correct

Annual interest rate being charged on this card is 19.40%
card goes back to 1999 ( PPi cancelled 1 year ago - advised by financial adviser at the bank as my balance wasnt reducing and I didnt need it anyway!!!! ):mad: I still have a balance of £7369
I phoned them this morning and the guy said this is the amount that will be paid to my account and not to my credit card as long as I'm not over my credit card limit (which I'm not - limit is £8000) so I presume that I have to pay off my card with this payment

    thanks in advance
WELL DONE,just wondered if you had to provide all statements back to 1999 as my offer from lloyds only went back to 2004 as they said they dont have records after 6 years even though my card is still active. Thx

Apparently Barclaycard sent me an offer letter on the 30th August which I never received (I was supposed to hear by 6th September) so I rang them and they stated that they would send me another copy which again I never received. So again I rang them and they e-mailed me the said letter. Then I realised that they had only offered me £55 (this was a Morgan Stanley card that had transferred over to a Barclaycared that I was claiming on from around 2000 and had always had PPI on it and a credit limit of around £8000 - my Barclaycard incidentally that never had PPI on I didnt have for long) but because I was in an IVA or had gone bankrupt (not me, I dont have any IVAs or ever gone bankrupt) they would pay this to that account, etc. Well I left work early yesterday specifically to ring them and sort this out. I rang at 4 pm and at 5.20 I was still waiting for an answer. So at work today (risked life and limb) I rang dead on 9 am and was waiting for half an hour!! When a very helpful person answered me and realised the mistakes that had been made. She said she would ring me back within the hour, which she did and said that it now was being sorted out by 3 people at the highest level it could go and would be sorted by the end of the week!!! We will see.

Now after reading other people on here whose Morgan Stanley cards from the early 2000s has been rejected I am expecting mine to be too. A few months ago I obtained the original form I had filled out and the PPI box was ticked so I am not holding out too much hope - after all my hard work too!!

Yeah fine thanks hun, yeah it was over 7 years ago, first one was 2002, and the 2nd one which refinanced the first one was in 2006 paid off in 2008.
Already had agreements so didn't need them, but we were rejected a couple of years ago, but didn't complain about health reasons, so waited on the JR to be finalised and tried again, this time with better results.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

FSA guidance(I posted a few posts up on this page)**sorry last page** about it says that if you're in arrears and it is contracted then they can use any redress to clear the arrears, so from that, I can only read into it that if there is no arrears then it can be refunded to you directly to do with as you wish, however, in my opinion it's probably best to clear the card and get rid, and if you feel so badly about the bank, move your account, I would, it's shocking the way we've all been getting treated, shame there's not a bank out there that is superb at customer services.:D

  • After like so many being a lurker here, I decided to make a claim against HFC, from who I had a loan off a few years ago.
Heard back yesterday saying that they've upheld the claim and I'll receive just over £10,000! I can't believe it!
Sent off the acceptance form today by registered post.

I have just one question which I'd really appreciate if someone could answer, as I can't seem to find the answer anywhere - how long does it take for them to pay the money to my bank account?

Thanks again for inspiring me to take a chance, and all it cost me was a recorded delivery to make sure they received it. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::T:T

    Hi Cloudburst,

Wow, well done on your win with HFC. I do not know if you saw my post earlier, I have also won a claim with HFC via FOS (since Sept 2010). Once HFC get your acceptance form they say they pay out within 3 weeks. I hope that helps put things into perspective. Just wondering when you put in your claim. Brilliant amount that! Enjoy!
