PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hiya,
It works out at roughly £31 pm ppi with their figures of ppi premiums paid, and giving you interest of approximately £46 per month on top of your premiums, if you have statements you should know if this is correct or not, and if you don't have proof to challenge it then in my honest opinion it's worth accepting and enjoy paying off the balance and wondering what to spend £2.5k on:D
Well done again:j
What to spend it on -
Just reading on AOL news that we are to get snow as early as October and since I live in Scotland we will probably have Artic conditions!!!!!!!!! so a week in the sun could be looming - and a lovely Christmas:):):):):) (if I get paid before then););)
A BIG BIG thankyou to you all for your advice and support and wishing everyone success with their wins0 -
Thanks for your reply smitchy I have reposted above.....Yes I want a balance of £0.00 as soon as possible, when you see it in black and white it's shocking to be owing that kind of money!!!! It's been a long hard slog trying to pay it off aswell !!! I will definately NEVER be in this mess again and will not be so gullable when it comes to the banks!!!;););););)Thanks to all the competition posters.0

Yeah me too pal, we just had redress off Clydesdale for about £5.5k and paid off a £5k CC balance with Bank Of Scotland, nothing felt as good(well apart from a few things;)) in a long loong time, and we just got our new statement in, with just a few quid of interest between last statement and when we paid it off so that will be clear at the end of the month, we also reduced the limit to £1k for emergencies and now don't have to pay £150 a month to it and taking about 30 years to pay it off:eek:
Feels good though:):) well done:T:T
I cancelled my card so wont be tempted!!! Not ever having a Credit Card again too easy to spend!! Going to keep coming on here for inspiration and going to budget properly as for the first time in a long long long time I will be debt free and not worried by what the postman brings:D:D:D:D0 -
I won back around £7,000 from HSBC, this includes paying off my current loan with them. However, despite signing the agreement I am still having to pay my loans monthly payments until they pay it off, for all I know this could take months! Anyone got any advice on how long it actually takes for payments to be made?0

Hi
My OH has received a rejection letter back from Barclaycard regarding his original Morgan Stanley cc, which became Goldfish, and then Barclaycard.
The main reason why my OH complained was that he was self-employed when he took out the card, but BC are stating that he was eligible etc., as long as he had a letter from an accountant, and he could also claim if he was unwell. They go on to say that they have conducted a complete review based on the information we had accessed in the course of their investigations and could find no evidence of a mis-sell.
However, we both feel sure that when applying for the card online it was a pre-ticked box, no questions were asked, and he was not given the option of accepting or not.
Can anyone confirm if Morgan Stanley did use pre-ticked boxes etc., early around 2000?
Thank you0 -
Hi Beverleykim
I've also had a rejection letter from Barclaycard (Goldfish) today - see my previous post.
I have phoned Barclaycard as their letter states that PPI had NOT been taken out on the application form BUT had been added later! I know I didn't ask for it to be added to the account. I only used the Goldfish card to get the Goldfish points and paid off the balance every month. Why would I ask for PPI. They stated that they couldn't provide me with any date as to when it was added as their records don't go back that far. How come they knew then that it wasn't on the original application form?
I have contacted the FOS and am forwarding all the information on to them.0 -

Sorry to jump in here but my OH has a Barclaycard, who have just rejected the claim (now with the FOS) and they said exactly the same to her. Something along the lines of "we have looked at the information you had access to at the time and are satisfied that you positivley selected the policy"
Which is interesting as this goes back to the 90's. I would love to see what they based this assertion on, so maybe the FOS will get to the bottom of it.
I wonder if Barclaycard (inc Gldfish, Morgan Stan) are just using standard rejections now?

Hello Precious
I put in a claim with Lloyds in May (along with other cards ) for CC PPI. I received the standard letters , then on Aug 17th an Upheld letter with an acceptance letter to return. This morning I received this :
'Further to our letter dated 10/08/2011 I would like to apologise for misleading information that this letter contained, after careful review I can confirm the following
Having checked all our relevant systems we can confirm that we have been unable to trace any PPI policies for your card account'
They have enclosed a FOS leaflet.
When I submitted the claim I did not have any paperwork but was convinced I did have PPI, I was obviously wrong.
What I can't understand is how they could have let the process go this far, surely this should have been picked up earlier.
I'm really not sure what to do, but this proves how lousy Lloyds are.

I received an offer today, with RBS. .
In the letter they state that any refund on a closed card, such as this, will be paid towards any 'arrears or indebtedness you may have within the Group' - I have arrears I am paying off on a Natwest loan - are they within their rights to apply this refund to that loan? I could understand if it was a refund on the loan PPI, but this is a separate card, and therefore surely up to me where I choose to repay the funds? I apologise as I believe this question has been asked before but my search on the threads couldn't locate the previous answers!
Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.0
