Hi, Where do you get this 8 weeks time-scale from, I have spoken to the Halifax today who gave me no time-scales even though i kept pressing them for one...!!:mad::mad::mad::mad:
Well from where i've been reading for many weeks now is that after the 16 weeks decision time allowed they would then have a further 8 weeks to calculate and pay out the money once accepted.

To be honest though the only one's that will tell you the truth and know the truth is the FSA it's them that sets the guidelines.:D
Thanks to all the competition posters.

    Hi,

I have been on the phone to them pretty much everyday since they received my acceptances-every time I get a non committal answer saying they have received a lot and are working through them. But they can't tell me when-I tried to give them examples last time I called i said should i expect it in two weeks, three or another four weeks-the guy just said he didn't know. Great service!!!!! NOT!!!!

All of my six acceptances were received by Halifax between 26/08/11 -09/09/11 and not one single one has been dealt with.:mad::mad::mad:

The last guy I spoke to did say that when they are calculated a letter with a cheque or payment advice (if money paid directly to a bank account) will be sent- just want that day to bl**dy hurry up!!!!

I am seriously thinking that there has gotta be a better way to run my finances than using these banks....

    And breathe.....breathe...rant over.....:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

0844 5560104 & 01452 828010 - both off the letterhead that the offer came on.

The 0844 5560104 was the number I had for Barclaycard. If I remember correctly this took some time to answer.

The number for Barclays dealing with loan PPI is a different number and is 0845 609 0806 and this gets answered quickly.

So it depends which your PPI complaint is with.

    Don't know if this helps.
  • Really thrilled today got my settlement back today £6,000 back from the co-op, keep fighting guys it's worth it. I'm gonna pay Mum and Dad back a big lump, but they want me to treat myself, so I'm gonna go on a little trip to new york and see the ground zero memorial. Gonna get on to Barclaycard now!
Hope you all get back what you deserve :-)
    DFW Nerd no. 1191;)
Maximum Debt £33k in 2007  all on CC's (I know, lesson learned; never consolidate and not cut up the cards!)
Now completely debt free, but it was a double edged sword :(

    Good News
After waiting since Jan 2011 and lots of letters back and forward to find MBNA has refused the claim on my CC which I hadn't claimed on, I spoke to a lady in the Customer Advocate Office last Monday and today received a letter confirming both my claims had been upheld. I have no idea of numbers but with my RBS money I should be debtfree for the first time in 20 years, and as my OH said ' All thanks to MSE' so a big thankyou once again to everyone on this site and good luck to those still claiming

    Brilliant!:T Congratulations!

Thank you Martyn and everyone else - I followed this site for months before I plucked up courage to send the forms in. I have been self-employed for the last 16 years and so eventually it clicked I had been a victim of mis-selling. 2 successful claims against Abbey (Santander), advised 27 August by Bank of Scotland that they are upholding complaint about Sainsbury's Credit Card PPI and refunding all premiums paid (inclusive of interest), advised 18 August by M&S Money that they are upholding complaint and offering full refund of premiums paid (plus interest) for both Personal Reserve and previous loan account. That is just fantastic - just waiting for the figures now (like the rest of the world....)

BUT ......... came unstuck with M&S Credit Card (I have read about lots of people receiving the same response). They advised that the application was completed in store in own time, so no advice could have been given to me, that the sale is deemed "non-advised", that policy documents were issued detailing benefits, exclusions and cancellation rights, that the full cost of the insurance was outlined on the application form which I could have queried before signing, that they will take into account the fact that I was not self-employed at the time of the application, that, in signing the overall credit agreement, I was happy with the contents of the application form and the accounts terms and conditions, that the policy was charged o a monthly basis for over 23 years and clearly detailed and I could have contacted at any time to query or cancel this policy, that they wrote to inform that they were transferring the Chargecard to a masterCard account, which also included details about the transfer of PPI, that they wrote in January 2007 to make me aware of some changes to PPI and I did not contact them to question or cancel the policy, that at the time of the sale of this policy, M&S FS acted as an unregulated intermediary as they were not a bank or member of GISC. Therefore they have rejected my complaint.

I have since delved back into then employment benefits at this time and see that I was eligible for 6 months full pay benefit if sick, followed by 2/3 benefit of salary for the following 6 months. I have proof of this.

Is it worth following it up? Do I write to M&S or go to FOS? Also, I have been self-employed for a long period of the life of the card...

    Many thanks for your help.

Hi and welcome and well done on your successes so far!

If the other business that rejected your complaint did not state if was the final decision, you could write back and ask them to review your complaint and enclose any further info you may have.

The FOS are not able to adjudicate against a company that were not regulated, but they may suggest the underwriter/insurer avenue, give them a call anyway and see what they suggest, good luck and please let us know, cheers.;)
