  • I have just rung Barclays as I had not heard anything on a completed loan PPI complaint, where the FOS had said I would heard before 15th September. They say that they sent me a letter on 9th September and that a cheque for £7322.46 was enclosed. Thrilled that it is so much more than I ever anticipated but concerned that I have not received this letter and cheque.

They are looking in to when it was sent and if the cheque has been cashed. This is the second time a letter from Barclays has not arrived - one for the Barclaycard offer and acceptance letter and now a cheque. Wonder what is happening to my post.

Can't believe it !!! after Barclaycard initially rejected my complaint , I wrote back to them asking to kindly re-consider .The reason they used to reject was that their accepted sales process at the time would mean that the PPI could not have been re-sold.
Sent the letter 14 days ago , also emailed the CEO to ask for his help , just rang Barclays to get an update , was told a resolution letter has been sent to me . The advisor very kindly read the letter back to me , I am to receive £16664 back !!!! .
This is my second successful claim , I am also due £10664 back from Barclays on a misold PPI for a loan .
Absolutely overjoyed with this outcome !!! I can never thank the people on this site enough for the help and guidance .
A VERY VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL

    Hi wilfymusic,

Well done! So pleased for you. Did they say they will pay in 40 days? I hate this 40 days thing that Barclays have told me. Congratulations!!!

Or if they are actually sending them in the first place.....
  • Hi
Have only heard about the 40 days wait on this site.
Barclays have had our acceptance letter for 40 days today!..Still nothing.

They did give 10 days for the return of the reply which if they count from that then we are at day 36.

I think that someone should be publicly tackling Barclaycard about their poor performance here, in an earlier correspondence they said they would like to "resolve your complaint as quickly as possible". The lack of information and indeed access to the facts about what happens next is quite frankly very unprofessional. They should try putting information on their dedicated website, it may avoid unnecessary phone calls and give them more time to deal with complaints or is that too obvious. It might even save them MONEY!!!

    Hi FEDUPWAITING,

Me and my husband for our 40 day wait were told not to do anything and payments will be made in 40 days and 8% interest had been added up to the 40 days! I have not heard anyone here talk about this 40 day wait with Barclays. Why does it have to be 40 days to make a payment?? Complaints ongoing since Sept 2010!
  • Just received a letter upholding our compalin for PPI on a loan taken out in 2004.
They have advised it to be a full refund of the initial PPI plus the associated interest up to the present day :j
initial contact was with Loans.co.uk (online) they added a lump sum of £4000.00 for PPI,which now looking at it would have been useless as my husband was self employed & I only worked part time.
Plus the policy only covered the 1st 5years of the loan (which we were not made aware of) so would have been uncovered for the remainder of the loan, 10 years !!
We only sent the letter 27th Aug 2011 and they have replied upholding our complaint, so no need to go to the FOS (Yet).
Lets hope they are as quick with their calculated offer.

:money:Thanks MSE for the advise & encouragement from other forum users, without you we wouldnt even have known we were owed a penny.
Have also sent letters to Lloyds for trustcard & Mastercard, they say they should get back to us by early December, as they have been given extra time by the FOS .
    Will keep you posted
  • Called the FSCS today just expecting to be told my claim was being looked by a claims assessor this week - but amazingly, i was told my claim was completed on friday 16th sept and i will be receiving a cheque in the next week!!!!!!!

wooohoooo! just need to wait for the amount now lol. the guy from deloitte guaranteed it will be for more than 9k but couldnt say how much in total as he said he didnt know how much interest etc would be added to the basic figure.

anyway, the fact we'll be getting our money back is good enough for me for now!

im so pleased - thanks everyone for your help and support in reclaiming

Hi Guys, I am more of a reader than poster but need some advice.

I have just had my first knock back from MBNA rejecting my claim. They have returned a copy of my credit card application from 2003 which shows where I have ticked the ppi required box. I know I filled the application form in at an air show but cannot rememeber what i filled in. The one thing is that the parts i definatly filled in and ticked, the tick goes one way as i am left handed and the section the sales person filled in has ticks going the other way and the ppi box has the tick going opposite to mine. Bit of a thin argument if I am honest. The other reason for rejection was I can not prove I would be able to cover the payments if sick or whatever. The have stated this is their final response and will not communicate further. What is my best option? Thanks for all your help guys.

I would agree in some ways, but in another way they are maybe giving them the rope to hand themselves with, as if they allow them the extra time and they don't do it, they then have no excuses to avoid a hefty fine, it's the same as the 16 weeks to sort out the complaint, yet people were phoning up at 15 weeks and several days to be told their complaint hadn't been looked at, then a week later they get a letter telling them it's upheld, load of bull, they just stringing us all along, would be good to see what happens to them for not meeting the deadlines on the initial complaints.
Clydesdale took a bit longer with us for deciding, but they sent the offer with the calculations and an acceptance form to fill in bank details for where to make the payment to, after they received the form, the money was credited 2 DAYS later:D

Called up the Halifax again today... same bl**dy answer, a no time-scale non committal conversation. I tried desperately to get a time-scale out of them but they could/would not commit. Still waiting, almost 28days since they received my acceptance on three of my complaints. They have no timescale to work to and can therefore drag their heels as much as they like.. If only we were all this slow at paying our statutory bills....:mad::mad::mad:

  • Hi Everyone

Been reading the forum for a while now as a relation posts on here regular but this is my first post. Sent my signed acceptance form back to Lloyds on 25/8/2011 heard nothing to date!!!! Have just fired an email off to their customer care address outlining the delay and that I have card statements from 2002 and am willing to supply them (lol) and will be requiring a full breakdown of payments, interests and simple interests included in their offer for a independent finacial review before any acceptance is made.

    Let the games begin.
