I had a phonecall from Firstplus this morning my complaint is being upheld. My goodwill offer was done yesterday and is being posted to me today firstclass. I said to the lady that called me is the offer what I a thinking it will be and she told me you won't be dissapointed.

Big thanks along my journey go to Di, Amersall, Niggly, Red Peppers, Dizzy with Money and Conkerlily the support and advice you have given has been much appreciated.:A:A:A:A:A:A

    Yay well done NN!

That must be a huge relief, a few days early too isn't it?

What exactly is a goodwill offer? Is it the full amount back or FP talk for 'we did nothing wrong but have this money and go away'?

Can't wait to see what your letter says, exciting times eh?

Thanks for that. 2 more questions sorry to bother you again. If I still have an outstanding loan with RBS will any settlement they offer me come off the loan or do I receive the funds? And will my loan be adjusted so the PPI payments are now taken off the amount outstanding?
Hi there, if you have no arrears on your loan then they should give the refund back to you.
The loan should have the total ppi amount taken off, this reduces your balance and the monthly ppi amount will be taken off your monthly payment.
Make sure that they do this.

    Hello all

Not been on in ages but thought i'd quickly share my story.

I have have a halifax one credit card and have done for some years.

When I took the card out, I honestly dont recall taking out payment insurance for it but although I genrally dont with any aggreement I take out, I cannot rule out that I did infact ask for it.

I have online bills, and it was only until recently that I noticed that I have been shelling out over £50 a month on ppi. I've had a good chunk of a balance on the card, but have been chipping away at it over the years.

After realising I was paying the ppi, first thing I did was visted here and then filled in the claim form on the halifax website around 3 months again.

After just 2 months I had a letter telling me that they are going to refund the charges along with their 8%. I signed the form, and asked for the payment to be paid into my current account. I'm still waiting to be given a calculation, but yesterday when I checked my CC balanace a credit had been applied for £2188.

I've rang them up about this and they have confirmed that this is indeed my refund. I did query them on the method of payment as I asked for it in my current account. They told me that this payment is refunded to my CC and that they will send me a cheque for the refund which will then be taken from my CC account. Seems like an odd way of doing it if I've asked for it to go to my current account. Has anyone else had similar happen to them??

Anyway, with a refund of £2188 i'm obviously very happy and also pleased with the turnaround that Halifax have managed.

If anyone is in two minds of making a claim......just do it whilst you can.

    Thanks all :-)

    Well it becomes more interesting.

Just been home and opened my post.......2 letters from halifax.

The 1st letter dated on the 7th - A credit card statement, which shows my refunds paid into my account. Great I thought........until I looked over at my CC limit which now read £4250 from my original £6250. Confused somewhat, I opened the second letter dated the 9th. Dear Sir, we have reviewed your credit limit and as a result have changed it to £4250.

Cheeky ******* I thought. So, my money put onto my CC and almost instantly they have lowered my limit in line with my refund.

Firstly - I signed a form and ticked the box to have the money refunded to my current account.

Secondly - This is money I've paid, money I am owed, money I am entitilled to do with as I wish. Surely they wouldnt have just lowered my limit if the account stayed as it was.

So i rang up halifax PPI team who are going to request money is put into my account.

I then rang up the credit card team........whilst on the phone, I was logging onto my account online to check the state of play. Online my account was still showing a £6250 credit limit.

After finally getting through to someone, they have advised me that the account automatically saw the credit and reduced my limit.......however they have since realised that this was a PPI refund and re-adjusted my limit back to £6250.....so hopefully I will be seeing my money as intended

It was always my intention to use this money to clear a couple of debts, but that is my choice.....be it my CC, overdraft or whatever.

Very strange indeed.....anyone else had the same issue?

    Good news and bad.
I've had a response from MBNA upholding my claim on my MBNA card stating that they are going to repay £1273.38 and that they will send a cheque withing the next 28 days :)
However they are not upholding my complaint about my Virgin card. They state that " ...you were eligible for cover (you stated on your application form that you were a UK resident, in permanent employment and aged between 18 and 70). As you have not provided evidence that you had any other adequate means of protecting your repayments in the event of prolonged sickness or unemployment, I have reached the view that, given your circumstances, the PPI policy you purchased provided you with cover that would have been beneficial to you...".
    :(
Do I still have a case against them considering I was unaware of the PPI or what it was for until I started to look into it?
Were the reasons for mis sell the same for both cards?.
