    Yay well done NN!

That must be a huge relief, a few days early too isn't it?

What exactly is a goodwill offer? Is it the full amount back or FP talk for 'we did nothing wrong but have this money and go away'?

Can't wait to see what your letter says, exciting times eh?

Hi, MON_77, I printed off a copy of Martin's template and form (the one you send before contacting the ombudsman), and sent this to the address on the credit card website (or back of a bill if you have one). You will need to send a cheque for £1.00, and ask for a copy of your original application form. Hopefully it will then be clear from the form that they mis-sold the PPI, as it was in my case. Takes about 8 weeks but they keep you informed. I would say Tesco were really swift and helpful, but that may be because I had good news from them! Good luck!

Were the reasons for mis sell the same for both cards?.
Exactly the same. The only difference on the questionaires I have sent is the card name and number.

and both letters from them are from the same person - Gail Powell (vice president)
  • Good old halifax!! Seems like they are dragging their heels at this same stage with everyone

    Hi All.

The guy I spoke to says 4-6weeks from the date they receive your signed acceptance is the timescale the 'redress' team are currently working to...

Ahhh thanks for that hun, I still can't believe it they had £21,000 of ppi from me and I re-mortgaged 12 months later and run away from them as quick as I could so the loan was paid up in May 2007. I will post my offer up on here when I receive it I may not get it until the end of the week you know what the post can be like. My son is seventeen in October and I wanted to be able to buy him a car so a least I can do that now instead of sharing mine.
Anyway less of me and more about you, we will get your money back I just proved you can do it. It may take a little longer but you will get there in the end ;)

Hi - did this email address work for halifax?
  • Hi everyone
Today I have received an upheld letter from MBNA they state that they are refunding me £826.18 broken down as follows:
total amount of PPI premiums charged since sale date £447.23
total amount of interest associated with PPI premiums £185.81
Total amount of interest at 8% £193.144
To me this amount seems a little low. The card was taken out in 2001 and paid off in 2008. It had a balance of about £2000 on it most of the time and I only ever paid minimum payments due to my financial situation at the time. I entered into a DMP about 4 months after taking this card out the time so I know that interest was reduced (after a very long battle) but this did not happen until about 2002. Does this sound a little low to anyone else or am I just being stupid with numbers again?! I am actually going to get a SAR done for MBNA to check out what went on (I have nothing in the way of leftover statements).
They have not given me any option to accept this, the letter just said that a cheque would be with me in 28 days and this is their final response and they will not enter into any further correspondence with me. If I find from the SAR that they have not totalled this correctly is there anything to stop me perusing them for the remainder if I do not dispute this first amount?
    Any help appreciated
    :)
