I'm sending off two letter to Clydesdale Bank regarding two loans, one taken in 2002 which we then refinanced in 2006, both had PPI, more importantly the one that we are paying just now(2006 one) the PPi tick box was completed by guess who....yes the person who was selling us the loan, and it is quite clear on the form too because it's the same as the x's for where to sign, nothing highlighted about the insurance and no documentation with the papers etc etc.
We are claiming with different reasons for both of the claims against them, the first one was obviously paid off with the 2nd loan, but I don't remember them explaining of any discounts for that when it was paid off early, ie single permium added at start.
I'm hoping things will work out for us, thats three claims in and all of them are for around £2500.

Next up HBOS credit card repayment charge, and sorting out CC charges, have went through all our paperwork over the past few nights and have organised all the bills/bank statements etc into order, tonight it's listing the charges, I'm also preparing the bank charges and wait for the New Year for the High Court case, although I understand up here in Scotland we can still go ahead with claiming due to us having different laws, some Sheriff in Inverness ruled that he cannot uphold the laws of an English Court as it is classed as a Foreign Country.

Good work Martin, and thanks to everyone on here.

    Hi Smithy

Nobody is having any luck in the Scottish courts just now, cases have been sisted right left and centre. I have appeared in Dumbarton, Portree, Edinburgh, Kilmarnock and four times in Glasgow for friends and every case has beem sisted. Six months ago I raised an Incidental Application to get the sist removed in Glasgow and the Sheriff refused my application. It would seem that the order has came down from the top of the house to leave the sists in place until the English case is settled.

Credit cards are not a problem as the English action does not pertain to them.

    Cheers

    Tony
  • egg ppi, sent off one template letter, got a standard reply 'looking into it etc,' six weeks later received £882, which they took off my c/c balance.
thank you to all on here.
  • We wrote to HSBC to claim on the mis-selling of our personal loan. After sending the first letter and the obligatory wait we managed to get back our premiums paid so far of £1307.
The catch is that you then have to re-schedule your loan and until you do this you don't get the money. We did this yesterday and wanted to pay some off but the bank initially said we couldn't but after a bit of negotiation they relented. Unfortunately they wouldn't budge on us reducing the length of the loan from 3yrs to 2yrs.
All in all it is a success for us and we now owe £3000 less than we did! Thanks Money Saving Expert you are the best.

  • HI there

What were you reclaiming: PPI from 2 loans - 1 x 20K and 1 x 2KWho was the provider: Halifax

How much did you get back: To be confirmed but they have written to say they will refund plus 8% with no admission of fault

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Nope just 1 letter and I have to say they were very good and its taken less than a month for them to agree to refund

I didnt actually have the account numbers so I did a free online credit check and quoted the amounts and dates and put the last 4 digits of the account number, no one questioned it and I didnt have to pay the fee for the info :T

Sent letter to GE Capital to get ppi back from store card as they have been fined got 3 page long letter saying they are cancelling my PPI and I am not eligible to claim as it was for customers in 2005 im a 2000 customer! Still annoyed as the girl in the store getting you a store card still has no financial experience!

Sent email to HSBC 19/01, got email back within an hour. Got letter dated 26th Jan saying looking in to complaint should let me know in 4 weeks if it take longer they will let me know as they have up to 8 weeks! Fingers crossed!

Could I ask what your reason was for reclaiming PPI?

I sent my letter to Egg 4 weeks ago and I'm awaiting a reply, so just wondered if your situation was similar to mine (in my case they only quoted one price, and I assumed that taking the PPI was a requisite for taking out the loan)
  • Just got my offer reply from HFC bank today after putting in my complaint in june 2008. Took the complaint to the ombudsman in Sept after getting just two letters in that time and no joy on the phone. The Ombudsman passed it to one of the ajudicators in early Jan 09 in last letter from them so far,but the letter from HfC states that i paid £4155.14 + 8% intrest on the PPI's that i had with them, and that was what i was intitled to.But in the next page they said because i still owe them some money they would have to deduct this from that amount, meaning i would see none of it in real terms and i'd have to take out a new loan on the outstanding amount at the same interest rate of the old loan of 33.9%, or take a token payment of £470.00 and take out a new loan on the amended amount again at the old rate of 33.9%.
Its a victory in ways, but not one i'm happy to accept. As having that money in your hand is better than seeing it pay off a loan, with the only outcome being lower payments. Oh well. What do you think boys and girls! take it or leave it!
  • Just received £2950 from HBOS for PPI sold with unsecured personal loan.

Described as the only way to get the loan in the first place, one letter secured an offer of repayment and 8% interest voluntraily.

Unusually for HBOS this involved no haggling, letters which dont answer the points made in previous correspondence, etc

    Hi , just a quick post ,

Started the PPI reclaiming process in July 07 , recieved a reply from First Union that they didnt feel that it was mis sold and no refund would be made.

Contacted FSO who contacted First Union around Decmber 07 , two weeks later recieved a letter from first union saying that they would repay £554 as a good will gesture .

No admission of mis selling but a result just the same.....

Thanks to the site for advice...
  • :D:D:D:D:D

Its taken 3 long months of stressing but today I finally received my letter saying Yes you was mis-sold and your refund will be in your account within 10 days.

    Amount refunded is £2245:beer:

    Thank you very much HFC

And thanks to all that helped me get it ;)
