    Hi di3004,

Please you give me some pointers of what I should do after my MBNA rejection, I do not know where to start.

    Thanks in advance:A

    Hiya

Oh drat I was meant to come back to this earlier silly me lol.:o
Thanks for reposting honey and well done to your sister, Congratulations! Its been a pleasure in helping as well.

Right, now lets get yours sorted out.:D

I note they said you can take it to the FOS now, but cometimes but not always they can change even a final decision, you could do so by writing back and asking them to reconsider by 14 days, if they do not get back to you by then or change the decision in your favour then I would then complain to the FOS.

I would tell them that you do not agree with the decision they made and you don't believe your reasons have been taken into any consideration.
Tell them you have only became aware of the mis selling of the PPI or you would have tackled this earlier.

Then tell them if the policy was discussed with you by their adviser then you would have had the opportunity to tell them you did not require the cover because you was already well protected by your employer, so this PPI have been worthless to you anyway and a waste of your money, because your employer would have paid out automatically.
I would also state that you don't feel the policy was sold in your best interest.
And add any further info you may have to help your complaint.

Give it a go if you want to and if you hear nothing by 14 days then complain to the FOS.

Hope this info help honey xx Good luck.;)

    hi all and Lynk

I have today spoken with Barclay card. They have managed to obtain my statement going back to 2002 which confirms i did not have PPI. Earlier today i did fax them through an old letter which i found in the loft about accident death insurance. Reading the letter this was a free 60 day and then monthly premium. ( i only just opened the letter last night) so these premiums where being taken out since 2002.

As i said i didnt have ppi on the policy but from the info i sent her and her going through my statement i was paying for this accident death insurance. She did advise though it was not their ppi team that would deal with this as this was not ppi. i would need to claim this back from Stonebridge.

Fare enough i didnt open the letter until now but is this classed a miss sell???? and can i really claim this back.

She did advise she would send all info for me to put a claim in.

Rae - have u heard anything yet Lynk (i spoke to our friend)
  • Congrats all on recent wins. They seem to be rolling in!

I received an offer today for my old Direct Line credit card, with RBS. Initial claim logged 16th May.

For reference, the figures seem ok, they have included compound interest on the PPI premiums, plus 8% interest minus tax, total £1800.

I have one Q I'd be grateful for any advice on:

In the letter they state that any refund on a closed card, such as this, will be paid towards any 'arrears or indebtedness you may have within the Group' - I have arrears I am paying off on a Natwest loan - are they within their rights to apply this refund to that loan? I could understand if it was a refund on the loan PPI, but this is a separate card, and therefore surely up to me where I choose to repay the funds? I apologise as I believe this question has been asked before but my search on the threads couldn't locate the previous answers!

Any advice would be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

OH just logged on to her bank and the payment from Clydesdale has been deposited, and best bit about it is there was an extra £400 or so included, have posted in the discussion thread in regards to the tax on the interest, so she's going to phone them tomorrow morning to find out, question I asked was are most people contacting the tax man, or not bothering? Never mind this is one down and several more to go, plus we can pay off our biggest credit card bill, a touch over £5k with Bank of Scotland, and it has an interest on it of nearly 30%, so that will be clear, and I owe my dear mum a couple of hundred quid so she'll get paid off, and that's it all gone!

Anyone got any thoughts on hmrc?

You should include it in a tax return for the 2011/2012 tax year if it is paid Gross.

For payments where interest has been paid gross, I've written to the tax office, with a copy of each letter showing the amount of untaxed interest paid.

If you don't inform them (either by contacting them, or including it on your tax return) and they find out, there's a risk they will be rather unfriendly.
