I had successfully reclaimed PPI from my bank for a credit card through a solicitor who took his % charge. The bank are now saying that they paid back too much interest as the card was cancelled in 2004 and interest paid up to 2011. This was being done through the solicitors but now the bank have suddenly taken this supposed overpayment from my current account without notification. Has this happended to anyone else? How can I get the money back from the bank?0

it does not say if it was inclusive ,loan started 2006 finished 25 august last month tyvm derwent
Ok, if the £2,185 was inclusive of interest then you will get that back plus around £474 at 8% simple interest = Total refund of £2,659
If it didn't include interest then you will receive £2,185 for the premiums, plus £859 loan interest and £661 at 8% simple interest = Total refund of £3,705Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............0 -

Hi
I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice, I am not sure how to proceed.
Today I received a letter from Halifax (after 16 weeks), after I made a claim for being mis sold PPI. I took out a credit card 10 years ago without knowing I had been sold PPI. The balance has always been around 1 to 3.5k.
Halifax asked me to sign the letter (in other words to accept the full and final settlement). However, I am reluctant to do this as they did not give me a compensation figure. They said once I signed the letter, they would give me a full breakdown of my compensation. I don't want to sign the letter, because how can I be sure that I will be happy with the compensation figure and it reflects what I am truly owed. Even though I cannot be sure I had taken out PPI for the full 10 years (as I no longer have the records), how can I be sure that Halifax will only calculate the compensation for the past 6 years and not the full 10 years.
Can I go back to Halifax and ask them to give me a compensation breakdown first, before signing the full and final settlement?
Any help would be much appreciated!
I have recieved the same letter today with 5 different PPI claim forms to sign and send back. It does state on my letter that all ppi paid and 8% interest will be paid back.:T
It does say to send them back in the pre paid envelope, but they havent put one in, did you recieve one and if so please let me know what address is on the front.0 -
Hi Guys
I have received a letter today to confirm that Lloyds are upholding my claim for PPI on my credit card.
They have confirmed the premiums of £6079.08, however, they have only worked out the interest as £273.94??
I have had the card for about 7 years, and the 8% alone would work out at more than they have calculated.
Can anyone help me out with how much roughly the interest should be?
Thanks in advance for you words of advice.0 -
Hi,
firstly, looking at the 1st loan it seems odd that A) (£5,000) +(£2,030.50) = £7,034.50 - where did the extra £4 come from? have you mistyped that?
Anyway, I'll carry on and disregard that for the time being:
Can you give us the dates each loan started, together with the amount of loan 2 thats was used to pay off loan 1? (need this as its likely they gave you a rebate on the PPI when you paid loan 1 off early)
Once we have that, we can try and work out what you should be due
Sorry there was a mistake in figures it is £7030.
I put a complaint in May, but with regard to loan 2 the total cost of loan was £11550.00, PPI was frontloaded £2741.17and interest £594.23 = £3335.40, so this particular loan has PPI interest clearly on it.
But I just remembered the other day about refinancing Loan 1 which was taken out in March 2004, (started paying May) first payment being £40 (which I paid for it being couriered) £144.96 thereafter. Loan 2 was taken out in December 2004, I don't have a breakdown of the figures, I just remember that I needed extra money - maybe £1000-£1500, can't remember eact figure)I know that I would have got rebate for paying loan back early.
My query isn't so much as I what I would get if complaint upheld don't want to get ahead of myself.
But, regarding loan 1 -which I haven't mentioned in complaint as just recently recalled and found paperwork for. This loan also had frontloaded PPI of £2030. 50, I don't understand why there is no mention of interest for the PPI, I don't know whether it is included in total charge for credit which comes to £1667.10.
My question is, was the interest hidden in total charge for credit or was there no interest added on?
Sorry i'm probably being as clear as mud!!

Well done to all winners!:beer::beer::beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0

Hi congrats on your win, great news, but do you mind if i ask a question, did they send you your figures with upheld letter,or did the redress figures come after the upheld letter.
I have had mine upheld with LLoyds, but rang today after sendng garaunteed next day delivery last week and told not yet scanned onto system and could still take a few weeks.
Also i have had three faxes with only one with my name on it on the acceptance form, quite angry about this as they cannot even get my name correct,so am dreading what my figures will be as i have had my card about 7 years with them.
:j:j:j:j:jcongratulations everyone who are winners :j:j:j:j:jxxxxxxxxxxx0
