    Excellent letter!:T:T

Hope they will reconsider this in your favour now, they will be very silly otherwise, but the very best of luck with this, please keep us posted. X;)

    Hi Everyone

So I rang MBNA customer advocate department yesterday to see if they received the email I sent them in response to their "we're not upholding you cmplain because you ticked the box" response.

The girl I spoke to said, we haven't got your email, it's not been attached to your complaint file, and your complaint will not be reopened no matter what so go complain to the FOS - as uphelpful as she could possibly be!

So this afternoon I decided I'd forward the email to them again but this time copy it in to the CEO too - and within a few hours I received a secured email from a senior case handler at MBNA advising me that he would be handling my complaint personally and has opened a new complaint to deal with the points I have raised in my email, and would get back to me within 7 days but that I was free to contact him whenever I wished

Maybe there is some hope and MBNA will come to their senses!

So to anyone who's been turned down by MBNA, it's worth listening to the great advice that the guys give everyone on here and don't give up the fight - they've not changed their minds yet but it looks like they're taking my email seriously :T

And congratulations to everyone who have heard the magic "upheld" and fingers crossed for everyone still waiting!

Hey all , am proud to say that i finally have my offer letter from Barclays/Firstplus and they are willing to "offer" me the grand sum of £7664.99. Also a interest payment on top of that which is £655.09 so a grand total of £8320.08.

Finally sorted. Thanks for all those who answered my questions and helped me on this quest.
One last thing though, seeing that others have had wrong offers from Firstplus, could anyone run through the figures i have and check if it sounds about right?

    A.Original PPI Policy £6975.50
B.Interest accrued due to PPI £1380.75
    C.8% simple interest £655.09
    DLess early settlement £691.26
    F.Total Value of refund=(A+B-D)excluding C £7664.99.

    Loan was for £35,000
    PPI £6975.
Taken out in July 2005 and settled in April 2008.Looking back in the paperwork from SAR request early settlement rebate was 691.26.
Dont know what else you would need to do the maths.

But the figure looks good to me :j

    thanks...

Advice please - are we missing something here?

Proposed offer from Lloyds is as follows:

    Refund of premiums £4676.03
    Early settlement difference £3229.26
    Interest at 8% £14260.86

On our claim from Egg & HSBC we had 2 lots of interest (one for interest on premiums paid and then a separate 8% interest)

    Hi

I was wondering if anybody could give me some advice, I am not sure how to proceed.

Today I received a letter from Halifax (after 16 weeks), after I made a claim for being mis sold PPI. I took out a credit card 10 years ago without knowing I had been sold PPI. The balance has always been around 1 to 3.5k.

Halifax asked me to sign the letter (in other words to accept the full and final settlement). However, I am reluctant to do this as they did not give me a compensation figure. They said once I signed the letter, they would give me a full breakdown of my compensation. I don't want to sign the letter, because how can I be sure that I will be happy with the compensation figure and it reflects what I am truly owed. Even though I cannot be sure I had taken out PPI for the full 10 years (as I no longer have the records), how can I be sure that Halifax will only calculate the compensation for the past 6 years and not the full 10 years.

Can I go back to Halifax and ask them to give me a compensation breakdown first, before signing the full and final settlement?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Was the £2,185 inclusive of interest or not ? Also, need to know the loan start date to work out the 8% simple interest.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............
