Hello, I've followed this thread for a while but never posted before!
I had two PPI claims in with Bank of Scotland - they sent me a letter saying they'd give me £1400 for the first loan and adjust the second which is still running so my monthly payments were less. I was fine with this - expected them to deduct from the current loan rather than send me money. This letter said this was the end of the matter and to consider it closed.
However, I have had a letter today in regard to the 2nd loan saying to expect a check for £600+??? Is this a mistake? Do they mean they took £600 off my loan balance and then re-calculated the monthly amount (I've checked and its gone from £211 to £175)? Or will I get money as well? I'm not complaining lol if they send me more money but I don't want them asking for it back or whatever if its a mistake?
Anyone have any idea what's going on please? The 2nd loan settled the 1st one if this is of any relevance. Hope you can help
Hi there
And well done to you on your success!
You should still get something back from the first one, they will have rebated a little on the first loan by reducing the balance when you taken out the 2nd loan to pay for that one, and you would have received the remaining of the ppi from that one......which this is probably from the first one.
Hope this makes sense, and you can post the full calcs up of both loans if you want to and someone will be along to check them soon. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Just a quickie to say thank you for all the fab advice on this board. I received a letter from Halifax on Saturday saying they were upholding my PPI claim on both my loan and CC.
I put the claim in mid May and was due a response by beginning of September.
I haven't got figures yet, but have signed the acceptance and sent it back. The letter says once they receive the accpetance they will write again with figures and let me know when they will pay out.
So thanks again....you are all stars! :T:T:T
Absolutely fab!:T:j Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Hiya
Well done with your success so far.
Sorry to hear about MBNA.
However in regards of it being an online purchase - its possible it was one that you had to opt out of, so it was pre-ticked, in these instances I understand that customers would have then assumed it was all part of the package.
It's also known that with some online purchases, the form would not allow you to go any further unless ppi was opted for if you know what I'm saying.
If this was the final decision, then as you are aware you can now complain to the FOS, some will give the opportunity to write with further information to reconsider, good luck with this.;)
Thanks Di much appreciated - gone to Ombudsman now, will keep everyone posted x0 -
Hi all,
I had a loan with HSBC in March 2006, it went as follows-
£4000 repayments at approx £120 per month over 4 year +2 months "breather"from I got the loan to when I started repaying. PPI was added on at £1000 from the begining. I payed the loan until Spetember 2007 when the balance was paid off. When I took out the loan the repayment priceof £120 put to me already included PPI, I was not given the option of removing it, nor was I told it was optional. My Job was full sickness pay and secure. When I had the paperwork put in front of me the PPI was briefly mentioned but not what it was for, or why etc so I was not given the choice on if I needed it. I spoke to HSBC last week and they sent out a questionnaire which I sent back last week. I know they have 16 weeks to replay but what do you guys think my chances are? Are HSBC paying out? Will I be waiting 16 weeks? Also, rough idea on what Id be due back?
Cheers:money::rotfl::T0 -
