PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi All
I got full ppi refund + interest total £2110.50 from the Halifax
I was mis-sold the cover as I am self employed and the cover wasnt valid .
the exclusions were not properly discussed upon signing the aggreement ,
ALL it took from me was a simple letter or use one of the templates on this site ,
It has taken about 5 weeks from sending the complaint to get the offer through , Easy .
Im also glad that I didnt go through one of the many ppi reclaiming agencys online as the fees around £600.00 for doing as i did in 20 mins

So go for it

They want me to sign a new loan aggreement without ppi to clear the rest of the remaining balance .. Is this usual ?

I too have successfully claimed back my Loan PPI from A&L, I sent one letter asking for it back, it took them a little while to investigate the case but they have now admitted that they cannot determine whether or not I was provided with the sufficient information and therefore are happy to provide me a full refund + 8% interest.

They have also cancelled my PPI thus lowering my monthly payments.

One thing I noticed though is that it seems they will be closing down the whole loan and opening a new loan for the remaining balance minus the PPI. Is this ok? Will this affect my credit rating at all?

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to Martin and this forum. I happened to come across this website and sent one letter to HSBC to claim back PPI...I topped up a previous loan and was told that, as i was from another country, PPI would help my application...after 8 weeks to the day I have just received a letter from HSBC upholding my complaint and offering £897 which will help significantly in becoming debt free by the end of the year. I am also tackling Welcome Finance but they are being very stubborn...although i now know to keep on fighting

I cant thank you enough for opening my eyes and helping me to become money smart before it got out of hand.

• Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter sent on 05/01/09, cheque rec'd today (09/01/09)

hi i took out a 5,000 loan with BENEFICIAL FINANCE 4 years ago with ppi ,i have 1 year left to pay 31st december to be precise,i went to the shop to ask if i could claim back my ppi ,they said i couldn't because i have only 1 year left,is this right.

Hi hun

If you believe you were mis sold and never made a claim throughout your loan, then you should be able to reclaim this back.

There may be some reasons that occur to you, it that is the case then you can go for it and it does not make any difference if there is a year left or not.

So check out the above link, there is also a reclaim template letter you can use, but also add your own info and own reasons of why you feel you were mis sold.

They have 8 weeks to respond in full, post by recorded delivery to keep a check on the 8 weeks timescale they have and for your proof of posting.

Did you ask to cancel it or claim it back for misselling it... If its misselling then you really need to write to them.

Hi i asked about cancelling my ppi but was told it was to late as i'd paid over 3/4 the loan,so i actually believed them .
I have printed off the templates and i will post them on monday morning.
