  • Hi, Just wondering if anyone can tell me the address i need to write to to obtain details of a Barclayloan i had several years ago. I took out ppi which was in the form of a bolt on loan and did complain when i paid up some 11 months later and at the cost of at least several thousand pounds but got nowhere. I dont have any of the loan details as ive since thrown them out and i think now is a good time to try and take the matter further.

PS Sorry if ive jumped in on anyones thread. im a bit of a newbie:o

    Hi Dave
If you post on the thread next to this one, someone dealing with these will be able to confirm the correct address for you, as there are so many, I do have them saved but unable to open my page for it right now......damn puter.... .

If you believe you have a case hun then yes give it a try, you can request for a copy of the agreement where there may be a £1 charge for this, but as first by ringing them once you have the contact details and request for a copy of this in writing.

The other option is a SAR which is known as a Subject access request where they must supply you with everything they have on you on your accounts with them, they have 40 days to comply, and post by recorded post for your proof and to keep an eye on the 40 days they have to send you the info.
However for a SAR request there is a charge of either a £10 cheque payment or postal order.

If you require the template letter for the SAR give us a shout where one of us will be happy to post this up for you.;)

The other thread I mentioned above in order to get the address is called PPI Reclaiming - discussion thread, its normally next to this one.

Do you also require the PPI reclaim template letter or have you already prepared this?

    Cheers and good luck.

  • What were you reclaiming: Loan PPI
    Who was the provider: RBS
How much did you get back: Exact amount still to be confirmed, but will be full cost of PPI including any interest charged on it, as well as 8% statutory
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Financial Ombudsman

We took out a loan in September 2000 for our wedding. At the time, PPI was added, and while it was with our knowledge, they did not mention that it only covered one person.

We wrote to RBS directly earlier this year, and first of all received the long questionnaire, which we were uncertain of completing, so we put in very little information (it was already in our letter). We received a loooong response with lots of attached photocopied documents stating that they felt we had not been missold blah blah blah. We wrote back, re-explained our position and asked them to reconsider. We got a reply back basically saying they weren't going to reconsider as we had no new evidence and if we weren't happy, to go to the FOS.

We downloaded the claim form, filled it in and sent it off. Today we received a reply saying that due to the FOS intervention, RBS would make a "goodwill" gesture of paying the PPI back in full along with any associated interest (it was a single premium policy) and the 8% from the date the loan was settled, till now.

Absoloutely delighted, and really glad we pursued it. More evidence of a bank just trying to fob us off - sounds to us like they knew they were wrong all the time but just tried to call our bluff. Heh heh.

What a great Christmas present ... and it will be a Happy New Year thanks to the FOS!!! :T

It was also settled much more quickly than expected, I'll check the dates tomorrow, but since reporting to FOS it has definitely been less than a couple of months. So much quicker than we thought!!!
