PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

Hi all
I have received my 2nd offer from santander today for £3243.86. I first complained last tuesday 26/7/11 and have gotten results on both previous loans. I am delighted and £5500 better off. I would advise anyone with a claim against santander to phone the complaints department on 0845 600 6014 as i thought they were fantastic to deal with, not to mention a VERY QUICK response. Should have the money paid into my account within 2 weeks
Wow, that was so quick!:T Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
After reading all the reclaim advice many times I decided to give it a go, I didn't expect much as I didn't even know if I qualified as my account with MBNA had been closed for some time, instead of writing I rang them. (a freephone number)
2 Weeks later a letter arrived telling me they would investigate, 1 week after that a letter arrived informing me the complaint would be upheld, about 3 weeks later a cheque arrived £3002.40.:j:beer::D
Without this site I would never have bothered thank you all so much, gave me the bottle to get MY money back, thanks again.:T
Fantastic, Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Lynk,
You need to chase them, Santander average (for A+L and Abbey loans, at least) seems to be about 1 - 2 weeks
The number for Santander PPI complaints is: 0845 600 6014 and for PPI complaints its option 2 then option 4 then option 2
I did originally ring them back mid June but as I don't have any details they couldn't help me. I did manage to find out from my credit file by joining Equifax the date it started and finished. I queried this on my credit report hoping they would send me more details but they came back to me telling me it had been removed from my credit file (sods law)!
My bank with whom I paid the direct debit was taken over a few years ago by a Danish bank and my local branch have written to Denmark to try and get me the details.
Meantime I thought it would do no harm to email them with my complaint giving what details I had.
Just my luck really, one obstacle after another!! Have had no luck at all with Santander, told me lies about PPI on my D Perkins card, sent me an apology with a promise of £30 which I'm still waiting on 6 weeks later!!
Then just to add insult to injury they then rejected my D Perkins complaint.0 -

What was the number Joff? I've written to MBNA but maybe a phone call would be useful.0 -
Well Done Footiefanian  hope you dont mind me asking did they pay - up through FOS or did you hear directly from them as l have been waiting over 14 months and with a adjuicator but still no response.
One again Well Done0 -
argggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh  I thought we were so close but just had an automatic response from FOS to say that our contact has left the company
We haven't made contact with the company we are complaining against, I just wanted to know if we should contact them directly - we are currently waiting for an offer letter - our FOS contact had been pushing them but don't know whether we should be chasing directly for our offer letter????
Maybe after starting the reclaim just over 2 years ago, I was being slightly optimistic that we were almost there :rotfl:0 -

In my letter I told them I thought I had been missold as at no point was I advised that the cover could be purchased from another provider, nor was I asked if I had the means to make the repayments should I have been off sick or made redundant (which I did)
Not sure on what grounds you claimed you were missold, but they agreed to refund mine?
Sorry to hear it's not going too well so far, fingers crossed it works out in the end
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Got my letter today with all the reasons for refuting the complaint. I also put the same reasons as you and have been told that Nationwide were not obligated to advise that the cover could be bought elsewhere nor did they have to ask if we could make the repayments if sick or made redundant!
I did put other reasons and they have answered them all which I think I can come back with counter-responses with help from Niggly (the FOS Handbook expert) but they start with stating that their telephone salespeople followed a script which meant we would have had the fact that PPI was optional explained and offered 2 repayment figures (with & without PPI) offered.
So before I respond I have rung and requested a recording of the telephone conversation that took place between the salesperson and my OH who actually applied for the loan (with me sat by his side as he is useless with anything like this!).
I've decided that if they have listened to the conversation (not said in the letter that they have but implied!) then I need all the facts before I carry on.
They go on to say the credit agreement clearly states that the PPI was optional and a single premium so we could have opted out then, but the agreement is worded such that we would cancel the whole agreement, loan and all and not just the \ppi and we needed the loan' Less worried about that now after seeing what Niggly came up with from the FOS.
I was told it may be some time before thay can send me the recording (if it exists, that is) so I will give them a couple of weeks.
Hope I've done the right thing:(:o:(
What do you think?
Niggly don't go anywhere for the next couple of weeks and keep your handbook 'handy'!!!!0 -

and my questionaire to Egg has been returned in a Royal Mail envelope with a note stating that "this article was found loose in the post" ! So much for recorded delivery!
...which is a worry as it's an open account and all my details were filled in :eek:0 -
What were you reclaiming: Credit Card
Who was the provider: Barclaycard
How much did you get back: £598.92
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Letter October 2010
And then write your brief reclaim tale: Waited for JR, then had letter in June saying settlement by 31 August, received offer today
