    • What were you reclaiming: PPI on Loan
    • Who was the provider: First Plus
    • How much did you get back: £ 33,644 .81...( yes... you read that right...£33,644.81p)
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: After a letter.
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale ....
Read about reclaiming missold PPI premiums a few times, tried claiming back bank charges and got nowhere so didn't take it any further. Then we read Martin's column in the Sunday Post and decided to give it a go.
Downloaded the letter on Monday and send it on Tuesday 21st October, we received a reply dated 31st October advising us that our complaint was being considered and that they would reply to us before 24th November.
We then received a letter dated 18th November advising us that our complaint had been upheld and that we would be refunded our insurance premium plus interest paid on it to date and a refund of all premiums paid.
    A total of £ 33,644 .81 :j

We received a letter confirming the amounts paid back against the loan and a cheque for the premiums paid, on the 2nd December.
A total of six weeks from start to finish ..... all for the price of a first class stamp.
Our grateful thanks to Martin and The Sunday Post.

  • Hi

I wrote a letter to Abbey to reclaim my loan PPI. I was refunded £1343 which is the full amount paid.

It never crossed my mind that I had been mis-sold my PPI until I saw Martin on GMTV one morning and it just clicked that maybe I was one of those people. So I took Martin's template and tweaked to my reflect my experience. I wrote my letter on 28th October and I receieved my letter from them yesterday 10th December saying they were refunding me my money.

Thank you do much Martin and your team that's one down and one to go. You have made me one very happy lady. :j
  • Hi Di

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll write to LTSB again and tell them I do want to cancel the insurance and ask for a breakdown as you suggest. I don't think I'll get the whole amount back but anything is better than nothing!

    Fingers crossed!

    • What were you reclaiming: loan
    • Who was the provider: Marks N Sparks
    • How much did you get back: £1345.85
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: 1 letter
Sent 1 letter to marks n sparks financial services ref PPI sold with my loan. Demanded my money back, plus 8% statutory interest. They initially sent me a letter saying that they had received my letter and that they were sorry i had felt the need to complain. They also said that they were conducting an investigation into my claims and that they would be looking to find and listen to my telephone conversation from when i took out the loan. I paniced a bit coz i cant remember anything about the conversation as it was over 3 years ago. They said they would get back to me with the results of the investigation in around 4 weeks. Got another letter last Saturday, after about 3 weeks, saying they could not find said recorded conversation, and therefore had no evidence to contest. I got a refund of premiums of about £1100 plus interest, Total payout - £1345.85!! :T Bonus. Sent a letter to my old credit card company ref the same a week after marks n sparks, I had 1 letter, much the same as marks n sparks... conducting investigation etc. We`ll see.... I`ll let you know.

    Cheers
  • Hi There, recd my 2nd letter from lloyds yesterday refusing to refund my ppi. Letter stated they have been unable to reach a mutually agreed solution - however they will refinance the loan and remove the ppi and providing i have not made a claim against my loan protection - which i havent - i would get an insurance rebate which would be used to reduce the o/s balance on loan ! should i take to FOS and they have suggested this if i am still not happy.

(reason im doing it in the first place is i really needed loan - felt the ppi was forced upon me - my partner was out of work at that time, i was in a secure job - but the loan is in my name only so nothing to do with my partner)

    thanks!
