  • Thanks thats great
  • I feel both grateful and compelled to chip in here about my PPI reclaiming success that came through the post yesterday against Natwest (RBS). :j I've been through the mill, going all the way to the FOS.

Essentially, I was a post-graduate student (Aug 2006-Nov 2007) when I took out a Natwest Personal Loan to cover the remainder of my living costs in May 2007. At that time, I was under a temporary employment contract by the university. I provided the contract to the bank at the time I got the loan. I argued that under the employment component, I would have been ineligible to ever claim, as temporary contracts are not covered for PPI.

After sparring with the bank with multiple letters, starting in April 2008, I finally went to the Ombudsman last month, and success!!! I'm getting the full refund plus 8% on monies already spent, which is the equivalent to around £2600.

So, thanks MSE for giving me all the tips and tricks, and giving me the ammo i needed! :T
  • I have just had my PPI returned to me from Northern Rock. My loan is going to be paid off 10 months early and I am getting £600 back!!

    All thanks to this site.
  • Hello

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Martin for the advice so I could reclaim the PPI that I was misold by Halifax. :T

After writing to halifax and getting no luck, I went to the ombusman and am waiting for a sum of £5300 from Halifax.

Unfortuately I'm not able to use this to ofset the remaining loan that I have with them "without PPI" but it will be put to good use.

I would encourage everyone to get writing and get whats owed to you.

    Claire
  • I just want to say a massive thanks to Martin & Co - especially the PPI reclaim addicts... You know who you are!

HSBC upheld my complaint -They waited until the very last day of the 8-week deadline and I received a letter today:

Complaint upheld - £3600 returned! :money:

Merry Xmas everyone - And to anyone else pursuing complaints, don't give up!

    :j :T
  • I am in the throes of a claim againt Blackhorse. At the moment, a date has been set for the claim to be heard in Court. At the moment, I am gathering documentation to assist me in January, but would appreciate any advice from contributors.

You would be better posting this like you have here in the reclaiming discussion thread instead of the success and failure. ;)

There is a thread here from another forum that might help

    http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/payment-protection-insurance-ppi/123886-poc-ppi-do-we.html

Where are you up to etc...??

Just done a search on the PPI reclaiming discussion thread about Blackhorse and here it is

    RESULT!

What were you reclaiming: PPI from a Loan

Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester

How much did you get back: £2'621.87

Loan for £10'000 was taken out in Nov 2004 over 60 months
£3'145.40 interest was added to this as well as £2'885.40 in PPI charges leaving a total repayable amount of £16'030.80 paying £267.18 per month

On the 21st of Oct I sent a template letter from this site. About 2 weeks after which i recieved a letter from them offering me a £2'621.87 refund due to me not being told that the policy was optional. On the 4th of December I recieved my cheque. :j

So I just sent 1 letter and all its cost me is a stamp!

I now have another 13 payments of £219.09 which is nearly a £50 a month saving.

Thanks for getting me an early xmas present MSE!

    Chris
