    Original Loan amount 9,000
Paid back after a year but was charged full PPI costs. So claiming back what i didn't use.

    Sent a letter 14/11/08
    • 1st response within a week saying they had received the complaint
    • 2nd letter 1 week later saying they were acknowledging the complaint
    • 3rd letter received 3/12/08 saying they would be paying me back what they owed plus interest charged plus 8% statutory interest. Sending a cheque within next 14 days.
    Total refund - £1558

No hassle whatsoever, hope others are as lucky as me in not having to put any effort in!
    Well done to you.. :j
  • Took Out A Loan With First Plus And They Say That I Will Get Back In Excess Of £12,000 Pounds Within 5 Years If I Dont Make A Claim.
Dont Know Whether To Believe Them Or Not.in The Past If Interest Rates Went Down They Dropped The Monthly Payment But Now The Payments Have Increased Even Though The Interest Rates Are Low. They Say Its To Do With The "finance House Base Rate"
I Dont Know What That Is. Any Ideas Anyone

What were you reclaiming: PPI from a Loan

Who was the provider: Alliance & Leicester

How much did you get back: £2'621.87

Loan for £10'000 was taken out in Nov 2004 over 60 months
£3'145.40 interest was added to this as well as £2'885.40 in PPI charges leaving a total repayable amount of £16'030.80 paying £267.18 per month

On the 21st of Oct I sent a template letter from this site. About 2 weeks after which i recieved a letter from them offering me a £2'621.87 refund due to me not being told that the policy was optional. On the 4th of December I recieved my cheque. :j

So I just sent 1 letter and all its cost me is a stamp!

I now have another 13 payments of £219.09 which is nearly a £50 a month saving.

Thanks for getting me an early xmas present MSE!

one email sent and first template letter from this site!
Thank you Martin and everybody else who helps on here.

 Well done - that certainly gives me hope as I've sent off my first letter to Egg and just had the holding response of 'we're looking into it and will respond in 8 weeks'.

Good to hear that they admit defeat when needed!
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Feeling MAD at the moment, talking about passing the buck !!!
Received yet another letter just now through the post from HFC, what on earth are they playing at, so I have just emailed a copy to the FOS about this here:

    Dear Mr & Mrs XXXXX

    Reference account number xxxxxxxx

Thank you for your email to Mr JS dated 01 December 2008.
I write to advise that for the purpose of absolute clarity, it was Endeavour Personal Finance (EPF) who issued your rebate in regard to the settlement figure and not the HFC Bank.
In addition, I can confirm that we have not received any correspondence from the Financial Ombudsman Service

    Yours sincerely

    Department Manager
    Central Complaints Consumer Finance.
    .....................................................................................................
Would love to know what HFC had to do with them then, as I have underwriters paperwork with HFC Bank on it !!!!

Right just received an email back from FOS about my post just posted above on here a few mins ago, here:
    Dear Mr and Mrs
    Thank you for your email.
I note that HFC Bank have advised that the complaint should be against Endeavour. As you already know Endeavour Personal Finance has fell under the jurisdiction of the Financial Ombudsman Service since 06 April 2007(we advised you of this under reference number XXXXXXX). We can only investigates complaints against the business if the event complained about occurred after this date.
I can only suggest that you return all relevant papers to me, including the complaint form. I will then be in a position to pass this to my assistant manager for a further decision on jurisdiction.
    Kind Regards

This is what i said to you Di. If you look on any claim sites about unfair rebates they are complaints against the actual TERMS in the policy (UTCCR). There is no actual rebate rules anywhere alone set by the FSA or the FOS other than you should receive some rebate. If you have a complaint against the rebate it is usually determined by the contract in which the insurance is written like mine with Firstplus. Tiggrae again told us wrong on this one.. .

  • Thank you to Money Saving Expert!!

E-mailed Alliance & Leicester just one e-mail, containing the template letter.
Within one week I first recieved a reply e-mailm stating my case would be looked at and they would contact me.
Then recieved a letter confirming an investigation of my claim.
Within 2 weeks recieved an offer of the full amount plus the FSA advised 8%!!

    Truly amazing

I have accepted the offer and now just awaiting the cheque!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi Deb
Some mixed feelings here on this then?
Good news on the money back though....... , well done with that, but I would recommend you ask for a copy of the written breakdown to make sure what your having back is the right amount with stat interest.;)
They cannot refuse to pay it out now, not even if its more they owe, it may be correct but if I were you I would want to make sure its the correct amount.

Keep your letter handy about what they said about not issuing you with a new credit card.
    Have they explained why?

If you don't mind me asking, but do you really need a credit card now hun ?
I know what you mean though, your asking if this is wrong of them doing this.
I would ask them to explain, because I know by having a credit card even if you do not use it - it helps with the credit rating, so in my own personal opinion if they have not explained the reason why and they are just doing this because of what you have done by reclaiming etc, to me this is wrong and another case for the FOS to deal with as a separate complaint.

Good luck in this hun, so all you have to do here is:

Request for them to post a copy of a written breakdown of calculations.
And write to them in a separate letter for an explanation of why they will be no longer issuing you with a new credit card.

Please keep us posted hunni and good luck.;)

    Di.

Update on my situation! Got a letter back from BOS saying -

Thank you for your letter. We continually review your account and at the most recent review based on internal and external data we have made a decision not to re-issue a card. I am afraid that this decision cannot be overturned.

What you think of that? I think its a roundabout way of saying you claimed back your PPI, we had to pay out so we are getting rid of u! Where do I go from here? FOS? I dont want to damage my credit rating but I dont want them to get away with it either!

    Thanks

    Debs :D
    oooooooh i luv a bargain :)
