Just wanted to report the success I have had using the PPI reclaim letter.

Wrote to Alliance & Leicester in conjunction with PPI on a Car Purchase Plan I completed payment of in 2004, although took out 18months previous to that date. The loan was for 10,500.

I did at the time genuinely question the PPI but was told I needed to have the insurance. This was the basis of my claim.

I had paid approx 800.00 for PPI over the 18months, and have been offered 1028.00 including the interest, as a final settlement.

The whole process has taken just under 5 weeks, and I am just waiting for the Cheque...Just in time for Christmas!

Thank you for great moneysaving advice
 well done just had my offer too lets see who get there cheque first

What were you reclaiming: ppi on loan
Who was your provider: Alliance & Leicester
How much did you get back: £1,838.25
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the financial ombudsman: 1st template letter.

My loan was outside the time period they were fined for by 2 months. My loan still has £2k left so this will go a long way towards paying it off nicely.

Cheers Martin! Didnt expect anything but what a nice saturday morning surprise.....it cleared my hangover up thats for sure

I have just won with the co-op and they are paying it within 5 days to my bank account... .

I know this is quick and don't think that is the usual but from what I can gather its usually about 6 weeks.
  • I sent off one letter to reclaim my PPI on a loan, from A&L, which I took out in 2002 and paid off early. I received a letter from them saying they were 'looking into my complaint' the next day I received a letter offering me £1,651!! The cheque arrived last week, just in time for Christmas!
    :T
I am now spreading the word and encouraging friends and family to do the same.

    Thanks Martin!

how long did it take archie to get you cheque
  • Hi everyone,

I have had letters from both of these companies, saying that they would be paying me out, as a gesture of good will. Although i had to go through the FOS for my Lombard Direct. They said it will take between 6-8 weeks to pay out. Thank you to everyone on this site who continue to write their success and failures. This gave me the strength to fight on especially when Lombard Direct refused to uphold my complaint. And a major big thank you to Martin Lewis without who, we would all still be getting robbed big time.

  • I love hearing good news. Well done everyone. Just wish I could hear something from Tesco.
  • who tell me how long this process took? the thread is so long!
  • It took about 2 weeks to get the cheque through, but I think that as they were paying the interest upto the 30th November they were in no hurry to send it.
  • Having seen Martin's advice about mis-selling of PPI, I decide to contact Alliance & Leicester regarding the PPI for my loan with them, even though I felt I didn't have a clear-cut case. I sent the first letter off (as from Martin's website) stating that I felt I had been mis-sold the insurance because of a pushy telephone sales clerk who rang during my lunchtime & the only way I could get him off was to just agree with it. I received a letter back a couple of weeks later from A&L saying they were looking into things. About a week after I received a letter stating they couldn't prove things one way or another, & that they were offering to cancel my PPI for my loan with immediate effect, reimburse all my PPI payments to date, plus 8% interest. All in all just short of £900! Needless to say I accepted & am currently awaiting a cheque which will come in handy just before Christmas! My advice is even if you don't have a clear-cut case, just go for it. You've nothing to lose & Martin has kindly given all the advice & template letters you need on his website. :money: :rotfl: :j
Thanks Martin. I owe you a beer!
