So after all the moaning I have done of late I have wonderful news to share. I initially submitted my claim for missold PPI in October 2010. Had to wait for all the Court cases etc, etc and got a letter advising me I would receive a response by 31st August. However, I decided to email the CEO on Monday 11th July which has resulted in an offer of £2,400.00 which I received through the post last Wednesday 20th July. I am delighted by this and have sent off the acceptance. I estimated I paid approx £850 in ppi premiums.....anything above this I would have accepted so as you can imagine I am thrilled and just relieved its all over (nearly). Good luck everyone else xxx

Excellent outcome. Well done. :T :D Which bank was this?

HSBC are in trouble :rotfl: its the 16 week deadline today and I just rang to find out what was going on and was told they have no idea when I will get a payout as its now gone to a different department..................helpful. Anyway does anyone have the CEOs email addy so I can start jumping up and down, do I need to contact the FSA or FOS as well to inform them as surely they are breaching something and should get fined for it
They are not breaching anything, they have until 31st august to end the claim,if it was put on hold due to the jr..
As you say the 16 weeks are up now, when did you put your claim in and was it put on hold due to the jr?,if not these are the timescales from them losing the jr.

On the 15 June 2011, HSBC were granted a temporary extension by the FSA for handling of some PPI Complaints.
To ensure a quality approach is taken and in the spirit of Treating Customers Fairly, we are aiming to respond to all customers whose complaints were placed on hold during the Judicial Review by the end of August at the latest.
The FSA has agreed that for PPI complaints received between 21 April and 31 August 2011 the time limit within which we must respond in writing to complaints is extended to a maximum of 16 weeks from the normal 8 week period. For complaints we receive between 1 September and 31 December 2011 the period will be a maximum of 12 weeks.

And treating customers fairly is a load of old tosh, when they are not doing them in date order.

    :j:jWell done :beer::beer:
Hopefully you wont have to wait too much longer.

Is the loan still running? if it is the compensation will be taken off the loan, but you need to ring FSCS and ask about cancelling the ppi and getting this back.

If the loan is finished then enjoy spending the money :j:j

The other thing about this of course, is that if you put a complaint in on 31st August, it needs to be resolved by 21st December, but if you put a complaint in on 1st September it needs to be resolved by 24th November!

So those that put a claim in later by one day will be given an outcome a month sooner, where the heck is the logic in that?

Congratulations to all who have got their PPI back!

Help written to santander (alliance & leicester) regarding an old loan taken out in 1999, dont seem to have any paper work and they have replied saying because the loan was taken out over 6 years ago they have no records of this. What do I do next???
It may be worth doing SAR for this,it will cost you £10,but if you get the info you need to make a claim, then it will be money well spent.

All you have to do is ask for all info they hold on you and give them 40 days to reply.

If you do internet banking then you may be able to get statements showing the loan payment and if you paid by dd then this will also show the account number.

How far would a SAR go back, I've had loans with Abbey National (Santander) for years (starting early 90's)and also had one in the mid 90's with Alliance and Leicester, I have written to them but the response I go back was send a cheque for £5 (I am assuminng there was 5 loans, but am quite sure these are the current and the more recent ones that don't have PPI). Is there any way I can find any info on these old loans??

    Good news! Well...sort of.

Heard from the adjudicator this morning, who informed me that her manager has agreed that my sister's case should be fast tracked. We're hoping that since the adjudicator made her decision on April 14th it won't be too long until it reaches the ombudsman. However, we'd appreciate a little advice, since the adjudicator has given my sis until August 15th to submit any further comments or arguments she may have. I think I've already explained that she was advised to take on the PPI as it would provide a 'safety net' if her DLA and self employed income should stop. We're wondering if it might help to send the same DLA award letters to the FOS as was sent to Norton Finance. As I've mentioned before, NF have denied that a pre-existing medical condition was disclosed, but the award letters explain in considerable detail exactly why my sis receives the higher rate. I'm almost certain that the agent selling the policy was somewhat 'economical' with the facts, in order to 'tick the boxes' and justify the sale. I've read that these people get something like 70% commission on the sale of such policies, which is certainly a motivation.
My sister is also fairly sure that in terms of her self employed income, she was asked what her anticipated income for the next 12 months would be, as her work for the previous year had been a little unstable. The last thing I want is to give advice on submitting info which could potentially jeopardise the situation, when what has been submitted so far has been successful. Any advice would be very much appreciated guys. Thank you.

Just talked to Barclaycard, old Goldfish, and they confirmed that they have until 10th August, 40 working days, to come back to me. The lady also added on another Barclaycard to the claim, a completely difference card, and said this would also be dealt with by the 10th. V impressed with her attitude and helpfulness - let's see if I am so impressed with the results week after next...

Hi there, a SAR should produce all info for accounts they hold on you, this will be £10 but well worth it if you get the info you need, the £1 would be,in my opinion a waste of money as this would not (dont think anyway) the older loans that had ppi on.
