PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

I have quite a few loans and credit cards going back the last few years, i was wondering if i would be better to get a 're-claiming company' to take over all of this for me? Does anyone know or have used any reasonable ones please?
I have started one off with the Halifax but i'm having a lot of trouble trying to get them to understand and also Barclays are saying they don't hold my records anymore!
Would appreciate any help/advice pls
Hi
Personally we do not recommend or suggest claims companies, due to the fact that many have had hassle, but how long ago was your Barclays account open and settled?
Have you tried requesting for all your data by means of a Subject Access Request (SAR) without this request they may deny having anything on the account, and with a SAR they must comply by the Data protection act (DPA) by 40 calendar days, with a one off payment of £10 cheque or postal order.
However, they do only mainly hold data for the last 6 years, but some banks are more lenient than others where they provide data even beyond then.
If you want to do this and have not done so, there is a SAR template below, and from what I understand there is more paperwork involved in using claims companies where they then get to keep so much of your money if successful.

Good news! Well...sort of.
Heard from the adjudicator this morning, who informed me that her manager has agreed that my sister's case should be fast tracked. We're hoping that since the adjudicator made her decision on April 14th it won't be too long until it reaches the ombudsman. However, we'd appreciate a little advice, since the adjudicator has given my sis until August 15th to submit any further comments or arguments she may have. I think I've already explained that she was advised to take on the PPI as it would provide a 'safety net' if her DLA and self employed income should stop. We're wondering if it might help to send the same DLA award letters to the FOS as was sent to Norton Finance. As I've mentioned before, NF have denied that a pre-existing medical condition was disclosed, but the award letters explain in considerable detail exactly why my sis receives the higher rate. I'm almost certain that the agent selling the policy was somewhat 'economical' with the facts, in order to 'tick the boxes' and justify the sale. I've read that these people get something like 70% commission on the sale of such policies, which is certainly a motivation.
My sister is also fairly sure that in terms of her self employed income, she was asked what her anticipated income for the next 12 months would be, as her work for the previous year had been a little unstable. The last thing I want is to give advice on submitting info which could potentially jeopardise the situation, when what has been submitted so far has been successful. Any advice would be very much appreciated guys. Thank you.
That is good news, hope this won't be too long now then, fingers crossed and cheers for keeping us updated.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Iowehowmuch? wrote: »Hi All, I've been reading through a lot of posts over the last couple of days and have noticed that there appears to be a theme running through some where Santander is involved. They appear to be rejecting a number of claims on store cards and then the ombudsman can do nothing because the sale of ppi took place on a date before the sale of insurance policies by Santander came under their jurisdiction.
- Is this only for store cards?
- What about old credit cards through Abbey or before (in my case an old National & Provincial account).
- What date did they become regulated?
This whole debacle makes me so angry. I have various accounts, insurances and a mortgage with Santander and if they come out with this crap I'll move the whole bleeding lot.
Hi there
My son's was successful via Santander on a Burton's store card, where ppi was sold to him whilst he was a full time uni student, but this was in 2007 where they would have been regulated.
However, you can contact the FOS on the customer support tel free number and they will be able to confirm who was regulated and not, and if they wasn't you can as amersall says try pursing the underwriter/insurer of the policy as another avenue.
The FOS have suggested this direction to many in the same position, so give them a call and check on these details, good luck with this.

Hi Nanna
I agree with the others here, they are probably trying it on, maybe they will consider with any further information before you take it to the FOS, so if you've further info to give them I would send this and tell them your not happy with the offer, and would like them to reconsider this again on a more reasonable offer, tell them if you've heard nothing by 7 days you will then take this complaint further.
But of course you can make that move to the FOS now if you want to, good luck x;)
Hi Di
I recontacted them yesterday via email and they've replied and still stick to what they origanally sent. And say that this is their final decision.
So i shall send it all off to FOS.. Should i print off the email that i sent and they sent back to me as well as everything else??

Thank you for all of your replies! I WILL NOT USE A COMPANY and i have now gone through my credit check sheets to try and separate them all and have got the addresses off the sites. The next bit now i guess is to do am template letters for each one.
I just get so confused and harassed easily as i have mental health problems and it all seems so daunting!!:(0
