Cant comment on GE/Cap 1, but my experience of Alliance and Leicester was a good one

How long ago did you pay them off?

What was the APR %?

From the above we ought to be able to give a good idea as to how much you'll get

Was the loan sold in branch or over the telephone?

Their email address is letsworkitout@alliance-leicester.co.uk

If you just email them with your account number, name and address (plus address at the time if different) along with your reasons for missell, they should be quite quick getting back to you

I'd be inclined to have a multiple approach to the missell rather than just self employed , such as -

- Were all the terms and conditions explained to you?

- Were you asked if you had adequate cover elsewhere (like sick pay from your employer?)

- Did the salesperson (if sold over the phone/in branch) give the impression you were more likely to be accepted if you took the PPI?

:)

Hi sweetie and thank you for your time in replying, thanks to the other guys as well but rather than quote you all i will roll it into one.
Just got home and i have got him sorting through even MORE p/w found 2 x loans with BLACK Horse Limited BOTH with ppi etc so going to get in touch with those too once i trawl out some addresses lol

In respect to the questions you asked:

Alliance & Leicester,, the loan was taken out in July 2004 and he "thinks" it was cleared up in 2006.
The Apr On the loan AND the ppi was 11.4%
He is 85% sure it was done over the phone
It does say on the paperwork that he is self employed and he had only been in his present address for 1 year. They had put down 12 yrs with same employer but obviously this cant be totally true as he was self employed.

Im now doing some emails, or attempting to. I take it Black Horse is something to do with Llloyds TSB as it has a similar donkey on the paperwork :rotfl:.

Many thanks in advance xxx

• I have had some luck claiming from Monument, they originally offered half the PPI at £380.00 as a good will gesture, I replied that I wanted the full amount back plus interest and the next letter offered the full amount £740 plus interest £920.00 totalling £1,640.00.
Hi Cheeky question :D
How far back to Monument go? they wont pay me anything as mine is longer that 6 years ago
thanks in advance

If you have proof of ppi paid previous to 6 years then you can put them in and ask them to reconsider
• hi there, sorry to be cheeky but when did you put in your form

Well, I think this could be success,

had no letters yet but in my bank this morning was from the FSCS was £2818.07, guess the 1 phone call and a form filling can't be bad, just hope my pre 2005 claim comes and my natwest one also not long to wait.

Thanks for the help so far guys

Hi all
I'm having a bit of trouble with Santander and I'm looking for some advice.
I had 5 loans with them between 1998 and 2001. I only have the loan numbers from some old bank accounts, so I sent of 5 template letters with 5 cheques for £1 each to ask for further info.
The cheques were sent back with a letter saying could I provide more information ( old address, bank account number etc ) so I sent them 5 more letters ( with the cheques ) and all the information I have.
I've just received another letter ( with the cheques attached again! ) and the letter says :

We would like to advise you that historical information can only be retained for legitimate reasons, therefore some personal data may no longer be held as it has been deleted in line with our retention policy.

In circumstances where our relationship ceased with you more than 6 years ago we do not retain the documentation required, therefore we are not obliged to provide this information in accordance with guidelines set by the Financial Services Authority.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but we are unable to provide you with a copy of your loan agreement.

Any advice would be great. Does this look like a ' it's past 6 years so tough luck ' to everyone?
Im sure all the loans had ppi on them and my bank statements show when and how much I was paying.

Thanks for your time.

Hiya

I remember being told this by Lloyds, then I SAR'd them, as they have to comply to the Data protection Act (DPA), so ended up receiving data from about very late 1999 upwards.

Yet I emailed them last week and they have sent me details of every loan taken out with them since the mid 1990's which was the very first of our loans.

Its up to you if you want to try this direction of trying to get hold of your data by requesting a SAR of course, but if you do use the full SAR template letter below, there is one off payment you enclose by cheque or postal order and they have 40 calendar days to comply.
If they are unable to send anything, then they must return your payment alongside with a letter to explain.

Saying that some have made reclaims with lack of paperwork and have still been successful, suddenly the data comes out of the blue.;)
