PPI Reclaiming successes and failures

OK, we have today had a offer of goodwill from RBS/Natwest for £2.269 this will be without any admission and liability, they have done a breakdown on the figures which covers 3 loans, i know the insurance premium on one loan was £2691, on the breakdowns they have also deducted tax at 20%, so not really sure where to go here its not a bad offer but is it right, it does not say it is their final offer but they have included the FOS booklet.
Hiya
Well done on your success.
I would contact them if your not sure on things in regards of the breakdown, normally they will confirm if its final or not as well, but they have to enclose the FOS leaflet details as well as a matter of procedure, you could check on this before you decide, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I wrote to Egg on 15 June 2011 reclaiming ppi. Got a reply this am 25 June 2011. They are going to repay all premiums + 8% interest! A total of £1849.52. Cheers Martin.:beer:0

Hi
Thank you for that I managed to find our Egg account no last week so have sent my questionnaire back in the post, fingers crossed, we havent't heard anything yet.;)
Can anybody please help me with this:
We took out a loan with Central trust as the broker at the end of 2005 the loan was with Firstplus, we had £10,000 of ppi added at the start of the loan. We then topped the Firstplus loan up in 2006 and had another £20,000 of ppi added to the loan.
At the end of May 11 we put a claim in for missold ppi with Central trust and Firstplus. Yesterday we received a final offer from Central trust which was for £2177.78 and that figure included all interest. I called the complaint handler yesterday and asked how he came to that figure: he told me because my husband had answered no to the question over the telephone, do you have any other existing arrangements, they took it that my husband had no company benefits. When he had got all the benefits the question had not been made clear to my husband what it ment. Also when my husband had been asked a queation about life cover he said yes for himself and no for me, when we both did have cover and terminal illness benefit. This is their excuse for the low offer.
I called the FOS yesterday for advice and they have now taken on my case which i was told could take up to a year to resolve. Do you think I have done the correct thing not accepting the offer and do you think it was a good offer from Central Trust?
Hi there
You must do what you feel is right for you, hopefully it will take less than a year, they do state that to cover themselves as well, but I note you said that they stated your hubby said no, ask them to provide you with the evidence for this, they must have details somewhere to have confirmed this, if they do not supply this evidence it makes you think if they really do have it doesn't it?
Good luck x;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

Thats great!
I contacted egg early june and have since recieved 2 letters saying they are looking into my complaint, so the fact that you have had an offer after a much shorter period makes me doubt whether I will be offered anything.
I wonder if they have certain criteria which they will pay compensation on without hesitation, and then another set of guidlines which are the next to be reviewed etc etc. I have also complained to barclays.barclaycard, black horse and yorkshire bank and recieved similar letters off them all.
Still, congrats on your compensation! Good to see the banks being held accountable for once:)0 -
Cheers everyone for support especially Di!
£1,700 back from RBS.
Lets hope they cough up for more people!0 -

Hi
Thank you for thatx, if they can provide the evidence for this will this effect our claim, as we don't feel that the questions he was asked about the (existing arrangements) were made clear. If they could have worded the script do you have full sick pay and death in service benefit which would maybe have been more clear, for which he would have answered yes as he did.
Also does it mean that the offer they have made us will be lost if we loose the claim with the FOS?0 -

Maybe you could check first if that was the final decision, and/or ask if you have the opportunity to give further info if required, but if the final decision and you do not accept it, then its the case of making the complaint to the FOS.
So basically the decision is yours and you must do what you feel is right for you, but even so there shouldn't be any harm in asking if they can provide the evidence to you, tell them your still deciding on the decision to accept and ask if they can provide the info to you if you want to.The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
