    Phoned, MBNA who said i needed proof of my employment from the tax office, phoned tax office who said their records didn't go back beyond 2005, but they'd put a request into archives. so thought i may as well send an e-mail to MBNA using the wording from your letter. Got an e-mail back today less than 3 weeks later and without the tax office getting back to me.

    Total amount of PPI premiums charged since sale date: £779.37
    Total amount of interest associated with the PPI premiums: £328.18

    We processed your refund upon the receipt of your acceptance. If you have not received this payment please allow up to 21 days for the refund to reach your account.

    Your refund will include the following;

    Loan number ********

    1) £310.43 - this is the amount I have calculated that you paid for the policy during the policy was active. When making this calculation I have only taken into account the actual payments you have made.

    2) £279.43 - This is an additional payment of 8% simple interest which we have calculated on the amount that you paid for the policy during the period it was active.

    As you settled your loan early, I have also calculated the difference between the settlement balance you paid and what your settlement balance would have been if you had not taken out the policy.
    We will pay you the difference of £173.34 with an additional payment of £143.29 which represents 8% siimple interest. I have calculated your refund in accordance with the Financial Ombudsman Service guidelines.

    Thank Brillant NEws, Have they already cleared your CC ??, I am also waiting sine 17th May for about £9200 from MBNA which will also clear my card but not had it done yet ??. I phoned them yesterday but keep getting told because it's a large amount it takes longer as it needs two signatures? and every day they don't pay it I'm still getting charged interest .

  • I recently asked Egg to reduce my APR % as it was very high - going to look at switching. They declined even though I have a good credit rating.
    So out of anger I wrote to them to claim back my PPI - within four days I was refunded £764 !
    I have now written to all my previous lenders - even those with whom I had dealings with over six years ago. I may not be as lucky with some of them but it's definitely worth trying.
