    Hi All,

Just thought I would go through all my current PPI claims with various companies.

Two say they will not uphold my complaint-sent them off to FOS now waiting on them.

Rang them all up (12 in total)-Still awaiting 8 weeks on pretty much all of them. But I have been informed I will be receiving an upheld letter from Nram (formerly Northern Rock) in the near future for PPI on two loans, very pleased could be in receipt of some extra cash very soon.

They said they were working on the figures I would be repaid from two initial loans of £4500 & £6000-(any help on calulations would be appreciated) Looking forward to the post everyday at the moment!:rotfl::rotfl::D:D:money:

  • Hi everyone, spurned on by the sucess I have heard about through this site I am attempting to re-claim my fees against cap 1 on a credit card.
I sent off a template explaining that it wasn't explained that the insurance was optional on my telephone application (when they called me) and that the full policy wasn't explained properly.

They have now written back to me explaining that the PPI wasn't added at application so they weren't going to look into this any further and to go away. They also sent me the application form and security details of a completely different customer!

I contacted them and the first thing they said was that they couldn't tell on their system when or how it was added to my account but the first CSR of the call said it had been on my account since application, when I questioned this (and the other persons personal data) she put me on hold to speak to her supervisor who then took the call. She had a similar stance on not seeing when/how it was added but after inspecing my statements said it was showing on my second statement which was in June 2002. I was told if I still wasn't happy with their investigation to write back in. When I brought up the other custs personal details she said it was a mistake and not to worry about it and just send it back...I don't think so! How do I know that they've not sent my details to random other people? I don't and she couldn't see why I was unhappy about this.

I have sent them a letter explaining that I am still unhappy and asking for proof that the policy wasn't mis-sold (which is what they said in their letter) and that I was made aware of the full policy details. I also asked what to do with the other persons details (including the details of the claims management company she is using) and I am waiting a response.

First of all has anyone had any sucess with cap 1 after they turn down the first letter and what does everyone think I should do about the details of the other person?

Also has anyone got any suggestions on a good way of taking this forward or am I doing the right thing so far?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Ian

No, I dont mind you asking, if I can help. Thats what this site is all about and I've had to some great advice.

    My story is as follows:
I work for the NHS and as I was looking at a site on google for NHS I cam across an article whereby it stated that if you work for the NHS/public company and had PPI on cc and loans you were wrongly sold. So with the help from this site I put in my complaint with Lloyds regarding the two loans that I had paperwork on.

I stated the above, plus in my naivity I was unaware it was optional and that I could get it elsewhere probably cheaper. Nothing was discussed regarding any income I had if I was ill, just was told that I needed to have it. That it was put on top of my loan no discussion took place on how much extra this was ontop of my loan (if I knew I wouldnt have taken it) and a previous medical history.

I have been informed by Lloyds that I have had a further two loans with ppi on so sent a claims form on with the same reasoning as the ones that were upheld

    Does this help.
PM if you want and we can support each other

    Hi All,
new to this so please go easy if its been covered..
I frequent the site alot so i thought id see about my personal loan and PPI ect ect...
thinking i may have cancelled a while back i asked Nationwide to let me know when and what i have paid in regards to PPI...shockingly they have admitted that they have sold me PPI on my last 3 loans , to which i must call a number if i feel like it may have been mis-sold...obviously yes because i didn’t know anything about it....

Can anyone advise me what to to with Nationwide? Call the Number maybe? Send letters??

    Hi Andy

Personally I would not deal with reclaiming over the phone, but complete the reclaim questionnaires as shown on the link below step 3.
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#step3

If mis sold for the same reasons you can keep to the same questionaire if you want to, but remember to enclose all acc numbers, or complete separately, good luck.

  • I have a secured loan with First Plus taken out when i was married. Tried to reclaim PPI as never informed it was only for 5 years even tho loan was for 10 years.
Wrote directly to First Plus - they refused to have anything to do with it - then wrote to FSO who said they had 'all information they needed from me' and would pursue the claim.
Numerous letters and over 3 years later FSO said they needed my ex husband signature - since he is now serving a 17 year prison sentence and is allowed no contact what so ever with me or my children I have no way of resolving this issue.
When I told FSO they had previously told me they had everything they needed and if they had asked for his signature at the outset of the claim I could have got it then, they basically said tough not there problem - no where to go from here and because he is in prison full responsibility of loan falls to me!!!!
  • I complained to HSBC in September and after emailing them constantly, i have just had a call from their claims department to say that they have upheld my complaint and i am entitled to £6400 back!! The letter will be in the post tonight with my acceptance form inside! It has taken its time but the claims department at HSBC are great, once they get round to dealing with the complaints! :j:j

    Hi there

I am so sorry to hear of your issues here.
Could you write to the Officer at the prison and explain you just require a signature from your husband in regards of a reclaim that have been going on for 3 years, and as its a joint matter you only require this so the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) can continue with the case.
Do you have a copy of the letter or email from the FOS about this, if not ask if they could send one so you can send a copy to the prison, but the only suggestion otherwise is to contact your local citizens advice who may be able to help on your behalf.

Hope this matter gets sorted, good luck to you.
