Hi there. I recently run into an old work colleague who told me he is now working for a PPI claims handling company. He convinced me to let them claim back the PPI from my old bank loans which he told me could total around £2500. After reading all the info on this website I'm kind of regretting not doing it myself, as his company will take 20% of any refund I'm given from my bank (potentially £500).
Is it too late to stop them from handling my claim, all I've received so far is a letter from them saying that they have started the process.

I too are in a similar position, i've gone through a claims handler, (who seems to be taking ages) when i advised that i would be going elsewhere he advised that i would breach my T&C's that i agreed with him, can i cancel this with him?

What were you reclaiming:

Mortgage PPI insurance
Who was the provider:

Alliance Leicester Now Santander

How much did you get back:

£2500+

Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Actually I called 0845 600 6014 option 3, 3 again
And then write your brief reclaim tale: I called them and asked to log a complain about mis-sold ppi insurance for my mortgage and given them the details, I said that I was mis-sold PPI insurance for my mortgage, and feel that I had to take out the insurance at the time in order to get the mortgage (this was in 2006) and I asked that I wanted this to be refunded and known that recently Alliance and Leicester was hit with a fine of £7 million for miss selling.

I got an offer within a 2 weeks of making the complain via phone, didn't even bother writing a letter but I had the letter ready.

Thats brilliant well done. :beer::beer::money:

Hi there

I would check the paperwork you signed for.
How long ago was this? maybe there is a cooling period as such so you can cancel.

As you can see hun I am finally catching up on here and i havent finished yet  but its great to see that you finally have some more success after all the help you have been giving. :D

absolutely fantastic news, well done. Goes to show that you have to be patient and it doesn't matter how far back you are looking to claim, it can still be done. Whoop whoop.:j:j:j:j:Axx

Hi and well done.
Could you tell when you put your original claim in, as I put two claims in January 2011 and was told that they are on hold due to the court case. I have not heard anything since, just want an idea when I may hear something:)

What were you reclaiming:

Credit Card PPI

Who was the provider:

MBNA

How much did you get back:

Total PPI back to Dec 99 when I took out the card £5336.90
Total interest associated with PPI Premiums £4922.30
8% Interest £34.97

Total amount payable £10294.17
This was credited to my card immediately clearing it and the balance is coming to me in a cheque format.

What did I do?
16th June 2010; Followed the steps form this website used the downloadable letter template and requested a list of insurance charges.

30th June; Confirmation that they had received my first letter.

26th July; Received the full list of insurances charges, a shocker!

27th July; Downloaded and completed the form from this website and sent it off.

7th Sept; Letter advising my claim was being looked at and would contact me within 28 days.

27th Sept; Letter apologising for delay and would contact by the 25th Oct.

20th Oct; Letter advising all claims on hold pending legal fight.

25th Oct; Letter advising my claim still not sorted and that I could contact the FSO if I wished, I decided to sit tight as my thinking was my claim might be in a queue and didn't want to join a new one with the FSO as I expected a lot of people to contact them.

There was now a long silence and with work commitments and Christmas it dropped off my radar also.

23rd May 2011, Letter advising my claim had been upheld in my favour.

25th May 2011, Letter advising me the above financials and that my PPI had been cancelled a bit like this card once I get my money back.

It took the best part of a year and I have accepted their offer which wipes out my biggest debt completely with cash coming back.

Found the process painless and easy thanks to the info on this site.

Hi there Billiejones

I was congratulating our Di, I am sure she will be along to tell you how she did it and give you some good advice on what to do.

Things are moving now with most of the companies paying up. It might be an idea to give them a call to chase them up.Who are your claims with if its TSB there have been a few successes on here already.

Good luck

Hello there, cheers FM.:D;)

Mine was with lloyds before Xmas 2010, and they upheld last week, (2) of them, so you should not be too long waiting now I shouldn't think.
However, I did a lot of emailing and chasing to the Customer Care Team and the CEO as well.

So to ask for an update email the CEO and copy and send to the Customer care team, they should hopefully get back by the end of today to sometime tomorrow if you email them now.
antonio.osorio@lloydsbanking.com

customer.care.insurance@lloydstsb.co.uk

A week before I received the letters of them being upheld, they did say they were working on them in order of date, however, I am also aware they have still been dealing with recent reclaims and upheld on them too.
They may tell you the same, but in my case it helped I think because of the emails, give it a go and let us know how you get on, cheers and good luck.

Thanks hun, it was a lovely surprise.

Yes I would have been stumped & surprised if they did not uphold, because they did uphold 4 of them last year, for the same reasons. Xx:A
