    Dear MoneySavingExpert,

We had paid our Alliance & Leicester credit card off with a lump sum, by cheque, after getting a final figure from MBNA.

However, from the time of sending and MBNA receiving the cheque, interest had accrued on the account, which we weren't prepared to pay.

Having seen Martin on Daybreak informing people of their right to clain back PPI, we decided to do it ourselves, as it appeared we had also been 'mis-sold' this insurance.

We were threatened on more than one occasion with bailiffs and bad debt lists but knowing Martin is a whizz with these matters we stuck to our guns and we received a snotty letter and a cheque for £5630.00!!

Just a big thank you to you guys, carry on the good work, and power to the people!!!:)

    Billy & Wendy Brown

Marvellous. Well done for sticking to your guns. :T:T:T:T

Just remembered to let you all know too - one of my sons had a Capital One credit card, which he didnt really ever use, just got it in case of emergency really!! Well he sent off one of the FOS questionnairs to them, just about three or four weeks ago (didnt really expect anything at all!) and he got a letter yesterday saying that they are going to pay him what he is owed and thats a whole £30!!! As he said he knows its not much but its better in his bank than theirs and it only cost him a stamp!!! So even Capital One are paying out now.

I just wish mine would hurry up and sort them all out!!

Well done your son and he's absolutely right better in his bank and pocket than theirs.:D:T:T

    Success story!! :-)
I took out a loan of £7k from Santander in May 2008 to buy a car. Sold the car in May 2010 and paid off the loan. Santander wrote to me a couple of times asking me if I wished to make a complaint re. mis-selling of PPI and subsequent to the recent publicity in the media re. mis-selling, I decided to see if I had a case.

I printed off the template form from this website, completed it, popped it in the post. I received a written offer within 2 weeks of sending the form! They've offered me £1,639 which comprises a refund of all the monthly premiums, a rebate adjustment and interest at 8%.

Result! Happy bunny :-) Big-up for Santander, no quibbles, they just got on with it efficiently and remarkably quickly.

They have told me I could go further and refer my complaint to the ombudsman and they sent me an explanatory leaflet. However, I am happy to settle so will be signing and returning the offer letter asap.

    Brilliant, well done.:beer::beer:

Hope they get back to you now after the bank holiday, good luck.

    Thanks for this info

I emailed the Cheif Executive over the weekend as you suggested and someone rang me today at work, asking for the tracking code number as they were quite annoyed that I hadnt had a response from them since 19.4.11 when they received it. As I was at work I didnt have the details with me. The person who rang me was really helpful and promised to look into it all for me and I said I would ring them back later today with the tracking number. Well as soon as I was home from work (I left a little early so I could catch her) I telephone her with this tracking number. She had done some homework for me and said that Co-op didnt do the AA loans when we took it out it was HBOS and she has promised to send off all my documentation straight to them with a covering letter, and a copy to me, explaining everything and stating to them that I originally sent it off on 15/4/2011. She was really helpful. She is also going to now trace the letter that I sent and who actually signed for it and where it has gone.

At least now things seem to be moving a bit and hopefully we should hear something soon. She also confirmed that we are within the 6 years for claiming the PPI back and I am 99% certain that we had PPI on this loan. I just feel that something will go wrong now though and they will turn round and say we didnt have it.

Has anyone else had any dealings with AA Finance or HBOS regarding loans and PPI repayments.

Thanks again anyway for all your help, I would never have dared e-mail the Cheif Executive if you hadnt suggested it.

I will keep you informed of my progress. Thanks again.

    Hiya

    And your very welcome.;)

Sometimes we have to move a step further to get things done, which is why I did do a lot of pestering in my case to the CEO etc :o, still it worked in my favour in the end.

I'm sure all will be ok, so try not to worry and wishing you the very best of luck.:)
