    icon1.gifHBOS have finally paid out
Just wanted to let you know that we have finally received a cheque for a refund of the premiums (£1916.64)plus a refund of interest on the premium payments(378.66),on aloan taken out in Oct 2000
It also states that there is another cheque being sent out within the next 14 days by way of an additional compensation payment (£1396.21).I wont get too giddy until I actually receive the 2nd cheque though.

It has taken exactly 11 months to get to this point and it has been a little frustrating at times. But to everybody out there still waiting-Stick with it and good luck.

A BIG THANK YOU to Martin Lewis. I work in Banking and Martin is something of an Anti Christ among the Hierachy. But I love him.
Well done and glad to hear of such an old loan too and gives encouragement to others here too.

Just looked back how long you were waiting for this and it was July they were told to pay.... wow, still its done and dusted now. Well done.

Hello all this is my fist post so may be slightly confusing..................
After watching Mr Lewis on TV yesterday morining and getting my attention when mentioning about self employment and insurance on loans i decided to listen !. I have spent this afternoon going over Loan Agreements that i have taken out over the past 6 - 8 years. In all that time i have always been self employed and taken out the protection with the stafff fully aware i am SE. Anyway i am just reading over some paper work for the Ins and the short of it is it says " i understand that special conditions apply if: i am self employed. What these are i dont know but its putting me in two minds now wether i am eligable to make a claim for miss selling me.

    Thank you

    Hi there
May I ask who you had taken out the loans with and credit cards if any, thanks.
This will help us find out to know if they were covered/regulated by either GISC or FSA, in case your complaint has to go as far as the Financial ombudsman service, as the FOS will only look at complaints covered by these regulators.;)

I do feel otherwise you have a good case to go by.

May I just say there is also a reclaming ppi discussion site of there you will be able to receive further help and guidance on this matter.

Here is the link to the site if you want to copy and paste your post over to there:

Hope to see you there.:D ;)

Sometimes self employment is ok on PPI policies. If you are paying class 2 NI then on some you can make a claim. You would have to go through the terms and conditions to check each one. There are a number of other reasons too about misselling.

Check the link and see if any other apply.

ALso join the PPI reclaiming discussion thread as this is the one for success and failure.

lol, you beat me to it again hun lol......:o :D

I took out a loan for £16,000 in joint names with my wife with ppi after about 12 months i stumbled across this site (oh joy) and after reading about ppi i had a closer look at my agreement and low and behold on top of the £16,000 was £4,000 worth of ppi. But the best part was that it only covered the first named on the agreement (jeeeeeeez). So 1 template letter later i get a full refund + interest Total of £1,164:00 and a letter stating that after listening to the phone recordings that they have on this occasion decided to refund me but it isn"t an admission of guilt on their part.
You"ve gotta love em. Any way that was with Alliance and Liecester I am now gunning for MBNA credit card charges and ppi. Wish me luck, any one with dealings with MBNA please let me know. Thanks.

Blimey Bisoy, I hope I was right as the PPI refund at settlement was the issue but if this was correct (almost sure!!!) then yes, they have short changed you. Please let me know the result... Extra Good Luck

I will keep you posted with any progress. I'm still waiting for the outcome of our secured loan and I haven't sent a follow letter for it. I'll wait till the end of this month and find out what happened.
