Hi
I have had three PPI claims from the Bank of Scotland upheld from 1996, 1999 and 2001, Today I recieved notication that I would be getting a cheque for just over £8,500. I had the credit agreements for the first 2.
Thanks everyone for your help.

WOW, fantastic!:T:j Congratulations!:beer:The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I took out a loan for £2000 in December 2003, BH included PPI on this for £447.25 even though I was self employed at the time.
It was never explaind that I would not have been able to claim because of my employment circumstances.
I recently discovered this website, and following Martin's advice, I sent off the Ombudsman form to BH.
That was two weeks ago, today I received a reply telling me that they are going to pay it all back + 8% interest.
Thank you so much Martin, the advice was/is first class.
Now... I am locking horns with Central Trust, they deny any wrong doing on a similar loan taken out in October 2003, anyone had any dealings with this company?
After two weeks they sent me a final denial of wrong doing.
My advice is, listen to what is being said on here, it worked for me (so far)

Nice of them to process those that were on hold before new requests :rotfl: Congrats on winning. Let's see how long they take to send the cheques now they have upheld it.

I sent the FOS forms off to Nat West re a credit card that I had held for years and paid off in full around 3 years ago, but silly me sent them off without the account numbers as I didnt know them. Anyway they sent them back to me stating that they needed them, so after asking for advice on here I wrote asking for my account number, enclosing a cheque for £1. I got a reply straight back apologising for me having to put in a complaint and that I would get a reply within 10 dyas. Well this letter was dated 27th April and I still have not had a response. Last week I rang them and was told that someone would get back to me but no one did. So yesterday I was getting annoyed and so rang them back myself. I was put through to several departments before getting through to the ? SARs Department. They said they didnt know anything about my letter and didnt know which department it had come from.
Anyway after explaining yet again what I was asking for, they kept saying they were confused (?) and didnt know exactly what I wanted. The person to whom I was speaking to eventually gathered what I wanted and stated that it was very rare that they could find peoples' account details if I didnt have an account number and I would probably have "fallen off the radar" - I was getting cross by this stage and stated that I knew there were obliged to keep records dating back 6 years by law and that they should still have my details. She told me that she had never been able to find anyones details in five years!!!! So I told her that my name was very rare and I was the only person in the country with this name. She asked for my name and said that was all she would need!!!! I asked her surely she should need my date of birth but she said she didnt need that, so I asked what about my address she then said "oh yes I will probably need that"!!! She took my telephone number and said she would get back to me but had very little hope of finding me!!! So I was really angry by this time and didnt hold out much hope.
Then, to my surprise, 10 minutes later she telephone me back stating that she couldnt believe it but she had "found me"!! She then went on to say I was the first person she had found in the 5 years she had worked there!!! This I find hard to believe. But anyway she said she would gather all my information, statements, etc and send them off to me. She said there was usually a £10 charge for this but she wouldnt charge me this.
So now I await my details. I cant believe that she said they can never find anyone - I think she was trying to "fob" me off but I stood my ground. I know I had PPI on this credit card as I distincly remember how much trouble I had when I tried to cancel it. I had this credit card for a lot of years, originally it had been an Air Miles card, so I am very interested in finding out how much PPI I have paid over the years. I work for the NHS so I should never have been given this anyway. I cant even remember how I came to have this credit card so I am very intriged. Sorry for going on but I feel that I have at least won one battle!!!
Can I also ask will I have paid actual interest on the PPI amounts or is that added separately?0 -

Wow well done to you for standing your ground.:T:T
You should also receive interest as well on the ppi amount, plus 8% of what a court would award, below I will post up the thread posted by Maxdp some time ago on how the FOS PPI refunds, this should be the same with banks etc if upheld (maybe not the further distress payment though).

I sent my Letter to Cahoot 2 weeks ago and today I have had a letter confriming, that they will be paying me the full premiums back.
Below is a copy of what i sent , I hope this helps anyone else
good luck
letter:-

Dear Sir or Madam,
Re: Account number: *****************
I am writing in relation to the above payment protection (PPI) policy which I believe was mis-sold to me.
I believe you have not treated me fairly for the following reasons;
• The PPI was added without my knowledge.
• You have been punished by the Financial Services Authority for failing to treat customers fairly and I do not believe that the PPI I bought was sold in my best interest.
• I was sold a insurance premium policy that was not fully explained to me as the whole cost of the insurance was not made clear to me.
• When I cancelled my insurance I was not offered any Refund.
Unless you can prove that the policy was fair and reasonable and that I was treated fairly when I was sold the insurance, I demand a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid in relation to this policy. I also expect 8% interest to be added to each payment I have made as this is the statutory amount a court would pay.
I look forward to your full and prompt response to this letter. If this matter is not settled within eight weeks of this letter I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.
Yours faithfully,
