    Hi There

I have juast received a cheque in the post from Halifax/BOS for my old mortgage loan. I havent claimed back for PPI yet and this came totally out of the blue. anybody else received a similar letter?

Being the total sceptic I will now be checking to see exactly what they are really due me :D

    Regards,

    Hiya

That's a nice surprise, and I'm sure someone else posted about this on a separate link below yesterday somewhere.
It looks like the banks are now getting on with what the FSA wants into looking into older policies, well done!

I'm not sure if anyone can help me with this or has had similar experience, i trawled through about 15-20 pages but then saw there was 600 odd pages!

I have had a Natwest Mastercard which i signed up for in 2001, which at the time meant i was a student without any real job. i had a temporary job at pizza hut with about 10hours a week, but it varied.

When signing up to it i don't think i would have wanted PPI because it has always been set to clear the balance in full at the end of each month regardless. I've never made minimum payments etc.

Throughout the 10 years i've had small periods of unemployment but never made a claim as i thought i had 'card protection' which is what it is labelled as on my statement each month. As each month the card is cleared i never had anything to claim for.

Turns out when i got my new card this month i needed to call to confirm receipt and they told me did i want card protection which i thought i had. They explained it was PPI and immediately referred me to the complaints line!

I have a letter from them saying they will need 4 weeks to review and possibly another 4 but will let me know if they do. I also got the T&C's but i don't think they are the ones from 2001, i thinkt hey are the current ones. I don't recall ever having the original ones it just 'came with the card'.

Because i had cleared the card each month in full the PPI is only ever £5 but i guess over the course of 10years it might be something better than a kick in the teeth.

I haven't seen many posts on reclaiming C/C ppi, mostly only loans or people who had a high running balance on a C/C. Anyone else had any success with RBS(Natwest)? for smaller claims like this?

    Hello there

Wishing you luck and hope they resolve this for you soon.
Eight weeks is the normal timescales they have, which makes sense in what they've wrote, so basically they will try to deal with this within the 4 weeks, and will write to you if they require more time.

There have been rather a lot of success.
I was successful in making a reclaim on my CC taken out in 2001, via Lloyds TSB.
Not a vast huge amount but still successful.

I know you have already made a start on this and now just waiting for a result, but some info on the link above too.

Please keep us posted, good luck.

Thanks will do. though by the time it gets resolved this forum thread will be over 1000 pages long probably! I read through that link prior and it does take into account unemployment cover being voided by being a student. I have the latest T&C's i reckon and not the ones i originally signed up to. It says if you work 16hours a week that is deemed employment so sometimes i did work that sometimes i didn't.

Ropey. I can't even remember signing anything - i think my C/C was done over the phone. Ohwell i might get somewhere, might not.

I understand with all or most policies, CC or loan PPI, if worked for less than 18 or 16 hours then you would not be eligible to make a claim for unemployment.
And with being a student as well.
I think you stand a good chance here anyway.
    Keep at them, fingers crossed.;)

  • Hi,
Sorry if I sound a little 'dozy', but I could do with some help. I had a loan with Egg, &credit card too, (the CC account was closed with the big shake up a couple of years ago.) Both have been paid off , but now am thinking I may have been mis-sold PPI on the loan - I'm self employed and even though I clearly remember questioning the loan arranger about the fact that it may not be applicable in my situation he insisted it was. Now, problem is that I have since binned all the paperwork, and the account was run online, and can no longer access account numbers etc. so the template is not of much use as I need this info. Any ideas please!

    Hi there,

Egg loans are pretty helpful, so give them a call. I did with mine and they gave me all my closed loan account information etc and even opened the complaint and sent out the forms (pre-filled) out to me to complete and return.

Im not sure on the egg cc as i dont think egg deal with these anymore as they have been bought out by barclays but still worth a phone call to find out.

If they fail you could file for a SAR which will cost £10 and will hopefully contain the information you require, im sure others can give better details than me.:D

I made a complaint to Santander regarding PPI on a credit card and received a refund plus 8% interest.
