  • Hello Angelwillow,

I have had a PPI claim against a Lloydstsb Credit Card since the first week of January 2008. Then each month for 5 months i received a letter from the FOS apologising for the delay in allocating my case to an adjudicator due to the massive amount of claims being processed. These letters stopped coming and i heard nothing for 3 more months and i then sent a letter to ask the FOS what was happening. The reply came within a week to inform me that unless i could prove financial hardship, well basically just be patient!. Now 10 months after first contacting them i still await news of allocation. I wonder perhaps do the FOS give priority to PPI claims on Loans over Credit Cards ?.

Wow and I thought my 7 months was dragging on abit - guess I'll just have to wait longer!
Mine is loan and credit card btw.

    Hi there hun
Did you see your GP today hun, it was you wasn't it ? Hope all went well, both me and Marshallka left some posts for you over at the other thread.;)

I do think regarding the timescales of these, may depend on who is dealing with it and as I had one last year that worked twice a week one week, then 3 times a week the following, I don't think that helps, but hopefully now that more adjudicators have been taking on, these will move on quicker.:D ;) .

I do hope so anyway lol.

My 1st letter was sent in November last year
    REJECTED
Sent 2nd letter December last year
    REJECTED
Went to the FO January this year.

Still awaiting to be assigned an adjudicator !

Very frustrating but if it works. It'll be worth it !

    Good Luck

    QUICK UPDATE:

Just had a call nice Gentleman from the FO who gave me a courtesy call to say he's been assigned my case. So 10 months after the initial letter to the FO things are finally moving.
Fingers crossed the decision will go my way ......:T :T :T
  • Hooray... I think! In 1996 consolidated some debts using a HSBC loan; at the time I was told over the phone that due to the total sum of the loan (£18,000) I would have to have payment protection insurance, which I then agreed to. Having read some of the threads on here, I realised that my ongoing health condition would prevent me from making a claim. I contacted HSBC who declined to refund the ppi, stating that the telephone conversation I had with them, whilst recorded as a matter of procedure was no longer on file, as it had been in excess of one year, therefore there was no evidence. They sympathised with my health complaint and suggested I go into my branch to take out a new loan without the ppi. I complained to the ombudsman and within 3 weeks they have made me an offer of £2730.97! I still however, have to go into the branch to reschedule the loan without the ppi, as it would appear that they are unable to do so as the loan was agreed inclusive of the ppi. I am chuffed with the refund... which I have to accept, as I am in between jobs.... but a bit confused about the later part... would be grateful for any suggestions!

You have to be very careful here as the old loan settlement will still include the interest from the PPI in the first place. The PPI that you had was actually another loan on top of your original loan so although they have made you this offer it still is probably not as much as you should get. If you post up all your figures someone can check them out for you.

A better place to post this is the PPI relcaiming discussion thread.
  • Good news, HBOS have agreed to refund the PPI we were told we "had" to take out in 2005 along with our mortgage. We were paying about £58 a month insurance which was really sold under pressure. The salesman kept telling us HBOS would not approve the mortgage otherwise as my wife and I both had non-British citizenship - really now, so why did they approve the mortgage in principle?

Anyway, just got a letter that we would get back the payments + 8% interest, all in all about £1300, so pleased with that! Thanks Martin!

Hi guys very good news today. I received a letter today from halifax for the settlement amount of our PPI we took with our loan.

    Refund of premiums = £847.11
    Refund of interest @ 10.8% = £320.79
    Interest at 8% = £436.72
    Total = £1,604.62

Of course we are delighted and extremely happy :j :j :j but would like to find out if we got the exact figures. Do you guys know if we got the right settlement?

A big thanks to Martin and all of you guys in these forums who give us a kick start in reclaiming all the missold PPI.

Good luck to all who are still in the process and you just never know what a single letter can do.;)

  • It has been over a year but finally, finally, finally HBOS have given in and agreed to rfund me all of the PPI which was added to four personal loans. In the first case I took the PPI but when I went back to top-up my loans they automatically added it. I sent off my claim last September, secured judgement in default when they didn't enter a defence, and obtained a warrent of execution. HBOS applied for judgement to be set aside. I then sent off an SAR which they failed to reply to so I reported them to the Information Commissioner. Last week the cheques started arriving... 4 cheques totalling almost £1200.. I wrote to them saying it wasn't enough and I wanted 8% interest and the costs of my claim repaid. Yesterday I got another letter offering a futher £430 in settlement.

Keep fighting. Never give up. Be polite but firm and remember, it often costs them more to fight you than to settle...
