We were sold a "single premium policy" for the sum of £7000 and was encouraged and persuaded by the "dont claim and get all you money back in 5 years time" line. We werent advised that if the loan was paid up early that the full insurance premium would become payable, as it is added to the loan. We had the loan for 9 months when we remortgaged and paid it off, and to my shock we had to pay all the insurance back on top of the loan we originally took. I asked could I keep the policy running without the loan, but they said not. We very reluctanlty paid off the loan to reduce our outgoings, and it only came to light that something could be done following all the hipe about single premium policies. To date I have wrote to loans.co.uk who passed me over to Firstplus, both have refused to acknowledge my complaint and I have now put it in the hands of the FO., that was in May this year.I havent heard anything to date, and I dont know how long it will take, but I strongly beleive no news is good news. How institutes could get away with selling these policies is beyond me, as it robs onsumers of their hard earned cash, because they are not what they deem to be.
Don't want to pass bad news on to you but we had the same problem with the same two companies you mentioned. It isn't down to Firstplus as although you had your loan with them, they didn't actually sell you the loan. Loans.co.uk did. Anyway, in January of this year, we had to pass it over to FOS who finally passed it to a judicator in August (8 months later!) then in Sep we got told that they then had to pass it on to the financial compensation services (something like that anyway) because loans.co.uk do not have enough money to pay debts off and are showing as about to go into liquidation. The company that it was passed onto, pay debts that companies can't afford to. Anyway, they sent us a REALLY long form to fill out and said it will take SIX months! - im not very hopeful as it is all taking so long. they said it is taking longer as they haven't actually gone into liquidation yet.
Hope your experience is more straight forward than ours is. Could really do with that money. Esp with the state of the credit crunch.0 -

Has anyone had any successes with Welcome and Black Horse Finance? Black Horse Finance is part of Lloyds TSB. Having looked through some of the blogs on the forum there appears to have been success stories with Lloyds TSB. I would like to know of any other successes with the above. I have 2 claims with FOS since Jan 2008, one is with the ombudsman and the other with an adjudicator. I asked for my claims to be fast tracked last month due to financial hardship. I am hoping for some good news before xmas.0

Hi there
I hope they push this on for fast track for you.
Currently between my and hubby we have 4 complaints in with the FOS, one was only sent off a few weeks ago, acknowledged as received, I have one of mine Lloyds Credit Card PPI in with the Adjudicator, hubby's are still waiting to be passed on and requested for fast track due to out situation from July and waiting to hear if any of them can be pushed on.
Fingers crossed to you hun, keep us posted.
Yes I have heard quite a bit who have had success regarding Lloyds TSB and imagine there has been with Welcome too.
Yes Black horse is linked with Lloyds TSB.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Thanx Di will let you know the outcome. I've got my fingers crossed for you and your hubby. I hope we both get a resolution to our complaint fairly soon.0

Hi there Angelwillow and not a problem.
June 2008 they received the complaint and I received a phone call towards the end of September from the adjudicators to tell me he is now looking at my complaint, I did not request for fast track until early September but still not sure if this is done by fast track or not really as I did not think to ask at the time, yet being in the same situation as hubby's who's lloyds complaints are separate to mine he has not heard anything about fast track and its down to his problem of why we requested it........, just a waiting game now though.
I suppose it can vary maybe with who deals with what complaints, because even though its still a PPI credit card complaint and its our bank, maybe they deal with outside loan companies differently, where there are so many complaints in about the same company, for example my Nemo case taken 14 months from start to finish....... .The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Hello Angelwillow,
I have had a PPI claim against a Lloydstsb Credit Card since the first week of January 2008. Then each month for 5 months i received a letter from the FOS apologising for the delay in allocating my case to an adjudicator due to the massive amount of claims being processed. These letters stopped coming and i heard nothing for 3 more months and i then sent a letter to ask the FOS what was happening. The reply came within a week to inform me that unless i could prove financial hardship, well basically just be patient!. Now 10 months after first contacting them i still await news of allocation. I wonder perhaps do the FOS give priority to PPI claims on Loans over Credit Cards ?.0 -

I think sometimes its the companies not responding to the FOS that holds things up and then there are some exceptional circumstances too that have to be dealt with first. i don't think its the queuing that bothers me, just to be updated every now and again would be nice. 10 months is a long time though unless there is a major problem.
Good luck
I assumed they would let you know if its fast tracked or not, they do say they will be in touch about this, even with mine I had requested it for both me and hubby and we just get a reply to say the usual someone will contact us about this but we never hear anything.
Although mine is now allocated with the adjudicator it was not mentioned about fast track because at the time I did not ask and did not want to knock it, but its down to hubby's current situation is why we asked for this and his still waiting to hear of his own complaints, his depression meds was moved uo recently too.
We did ask for this during the Nemo claim and we were over £8K in the overdraft, it was so near to xmas too, and with him and 400 workers who lost their jobs just days before xmas with the steel plant going into administration it was very tough, and also with a child with special needs to cater for for christmas as my older son has his own independence now but was at uni at the time too, it was soooo difficult. And that one had taken 14 months from start to finish.....
Lets just hope now that they have new adjudicators they will all move on.
Good luck to all.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
