    Hi All

I just wanted to say you having nothing to loose by writing to companies you have taken out PPI with. I sent out letters to a total of 7 companies that my partner and I had various PPI insurance policies with - and with only one letter to each so far, 3 companies have refunded us our PPI payments in full, plus interest accrued, totalling £4612.61!!! (Egg, Santander & Sterling).

I have referred a further 2 companies (RBS & MBNA) to the Financial Ombudsman Service as they gave me a final response saying they weren't going to act on my complaint until the legal battle between them and the FSA was finalised.

The final two companies (Tesco and Natwest) I am still awaiting a response from - failure to get a response by the end of this week will mean I refer them to the Ombudsman too as I would have allowed them over 60 days to respond by then.

The money we have recevied so far has enabled my partner and I to clear nearly half our debts - which has taken a massive weight off our shoulders. The £2 worth of stamps and 2 hours of my time it took to produce the letters has been the best time and money I have ever spent! I highly recommend people give it a try at the very least, and I am more than happy to offer help to anyone who wishes to give it a try.

    Good luck everyone! :j

Well done you. :T Congraulations and good luck with the rest. Here's hoping that you get the rest to clear the other half and that there is some left to give yourselves a treat.

I won my case against Tesco Personal Finance using the template letters.

This was for a £25,000 loan taken over 7 years. After 5 I started a claim against the PPI cover Tesco forced me to put in place for the duration of the loan. I did not want it in the first place and had adequate private insurance which would cover my income.

They initially made a token goodwill gesture of £750, but my sums put the amount I'd paid significantly higher, so I rejected this and took my case to the Financial Ombudsman and won. I got a pay out of just over £4200. It took over 18 months in total, but was worth it - especially for the cost of a few first class stamps.

I've detailed what happened on a blog post which I can't post - google for 'tesco ppi win bjw'.

Thats great news. Well done you for not accepting their first offer, the cheek of it. I bet they thought they would get away with it..not on your nelly. :rotfl::rotfl:

    Congratulations :T:T:beer:

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who posts all the helpful info and advice on the forums - I have been quietly looking at them and finally plucked up the courage to send the letters off (no idea why I was so nervous, but think it was the thought of them demanding all the money that scared me I think!). Anyhow, didn't think it could be so easy, but one letter to Egg in December, they wrote back and upheld the claim in January, and just received the letter this morning that £3000 has just cleared my loan and left me with a £160 cheque - could not believe it!! Will be pursuing the other accounts now as I've not had responses!

Will be grinning all day - which actually might help make my Ikea visit later more bearable!

Thanks to all again, the advice on this site is great!
