Well after finding some old hidden correspondants I have found my PPI for my last loan. I just have a few questions tho. It says on it AMOUNT: £1000.00 then PPI (but its called on the agreement Loan Protection Insurance, which I'm asumming is the same thing) £281.64. Im guessing now, that
I paid this £281.64 for the 5yrs I paid for the PPI. Now before sending my letter requesting for my money back do I have to give a figure I want or do they just sort it themselves. Im thinking it would be £281.64 x 5, then add 8% on that. And do I need to give my full reason for why I think it was mis-sold, I still have the letters telling me that I was not legible to use my PPI aswell so should I send them a photo-copy of the letters aswell. regards lisa xxx

    Hi Lisa

That is great you found your paperwork, as it will help.

You do not need to give them a figure, but its useful if you want someone to work them out on here for you, there are some clever folks on this site that will look at the figures for you, they may just require more details.

Give them all the reasons you have on how you believe you were mis sold.
And yes send them a "copy" not original of the letter you have, this should be very helpful to your reclaim.

    Good luck.;) X

Hope someone can give me some advise please..... We brought our first house in 2005 and arranged an interest only mortgage through HSBC, we didn't have a clue what we were doing as it was our first house so trusted them (stupidly) to advise us and guide us through what we required. We took out the whole lot with them, Mortgage protection Insurance, Life insurance, critical illness, etc! We recently came across our old paperwork as we have now changed to the Co-op and realised that HSBC insured us with a decreasing term life insurance policy (Co-op gave us level term) which was wrong because obviously the mortgage wasn't decreasing as it was interest only! Do you think we have a decent fight for a claim?

I love this website, I did a PPI claim with Northern Rock and recently got £6k back!! I believe this is our money and we blinking well deserve to get it back!!

    Thanks for your help!

Well done on getting your 6k from NR. :T:TGood luck with the rest.

Went through a claims handler and was awarded £9,700.00 approx back from Central Capital, they are now telling me that payment date will be 29th July 2011, does anyone know if they are allowed to hold on to the money for so long, they say they have a large back log. This doesn't seem right though. Thanks.

Well done with winning your claim. Thats brilliant.:T:T

I am just catching up so I am sure someone will have answered your question. Good luck with getting your pennies in your pocket sooner rather than later. They had it for long enough.;)

Last year using the template downloaded from here I managed to reclaim nearly £5000 from Northern Rock, so I decided to use the template again to take on Natwest. Result! I have just been informed that I was successful and I'm now waiting for £3100 to drop into my account any day now. It also reduced my repayments by nearly £80 a month!
So thank you for all the information and stories I have read here. It only took one letter and a first class stamp, so my advice would be to go for it, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Well done on both your claims. What a result. Brilliant.:T:T

thanks di i just have a MBNA credit card to claim back on now which is a bit more complicated as it was taken out through A&L and the form was already ticked by the bank.
so MBNA say it A&L's issue and A&L say its MBNA issue very confusing

Hmmm! I was successful when I claimed PPI from A & L, they paid up within in a matter of weeks of claiming, that was back in 2009, S***ander are another matter, I had problems with something else bank related and no one seemed to know what they were doing.

Good luck and I hope it doesn't take too long for you to get a result.:o

    Credit Card IPP.
    Egg
    £2068.85
Refunded after 2nd attempt using Martin Lewis’s template
    Interest calculated at 8%

In 2002 my husband took out an Egg credit card and in 2007 we converted it to a loan (that we are still repaying).

When we converted it to the loan I cancelled the IPP because it was so expensive and having read the small print, we weren’t covered anyway as my husband was self-employed.

I thought nothing about it at the time, then when all the publicity appeared I sent a claim off on behalf of my husband sighting that no one had advised him or informed him that being self-employed made the policy worthless.

They refused, saying that the purchase box had been ticked on the application form on the website, which meant he had understood the terms and conditions.

3 weeks ago when Martin mentioned that time was running out for these types of claims and that companies had been rejecting claims as standard procedure and not to give in at the first hurdle, I downloaded the template on this site, got all the Egg paperwork out and sent it off.

Then we got a letter saying the claim was being' investigated' but I thought that was just delay tactics before we another rejection letter.

Then this morning, a cheque arrived :j I am stunned; we are still walking around on air!

Not only that, the letter states that “...if as a result of the outcome of the judicial review, an additional sum of money is due to you, we shall be in touch again and will make additional payment as necessary...”

Would be great if we get even more, but we are over the moon with this result, and we owe it all to Martin and his templates...thank you so much Martin from the bottom of our hearts! :money:

Congratulations on your success and good luck with the others.:T:T:beer:

Hi all, Got a cheque today from Capital One for £1584 all thanks to this website. Just waiting from a response from MBNA and Barclaycard now. :T

  • Having completed all the paper work from this site to reclaim PPI , I sent it all to Santander, who as expected ruled that I was not entitled to reclaim.

I then wrote to the Ombudsman as suggested and was more than pleased to receive a letter from them ruling in my favour. Last week I received a very healthy cheque from Santander for £7,802.

You are indeed the peoples champion Martin, many thanks for your great advice and assistance.
