  • PPI for Mortgage
    Provider Halifax
    Amount £ 500 plus £ 500 interest
Had to use Ombudsman for interest

Was missold PPi. Worked overseas and so ineligible to ever claim but sales staff assured me we could and persons unknown made a notation on application form that cover should be issued
Halifax promptly agreed misselling and made a 100 % refund. as suggested by Martin claimed 8% interest. Halifax paid 8% on the £500. refused to accept that the 8% should be compounded from original payment made over 6 years ago.couldnt understand this as that is what they do when you owe money to them!! Wrote to the Ombudsman who obtained Halifaxs agreement .Cheque promised in a month took 6 weeks although I suppose they delayed as no way will I return as their customer.
Recommend use Martins template letter, pursue until a full and final reply received and if not satisfied involve the Ombudsman .

Just thought I'd update on my current situation.

First Letter sent on 11th August 2008 (reply received 19th August)

Phoned up a couple of time to see where they were with this both time just got told the information is still being gathered (what more do they need it's all on the letter I sent)

Email chaser sent on the 2nd Sept (aknowledged 3rd Sept, still awaiting reply!)

This is a totally daft question but I just wanted to make sure that this is valid for active policies?

    Cheers,

    Roy

Hi Roy just to let you know that i have a hsbc loan that is still active for 3 years, and i claimed back the ppi in full i had a letter from them inviting me into the bank to re-schedule my loan with them without the ppi insurance, who reduced my payments by £40 a month, and i received £1229.29 back from them.

Hi it is common practice for the first named person only to be covered by this PPI, so sounds as though you not covered:rolleyes:

Hi i read the threads on here daily, however this is my first time writing on here.

I got home from work today to find that after 4 months of waiting, a letter from Lombard direct refusing to uphold my PPI claim stating that i had singed up for it. I will be writing back to them asking for a copy of my conversation over the phone with the salesperson where they stated that 10k was a lot of money and Lombard had to make sure that they got their money back should anything happen to me. Now if that is not miss selling i don't know what is. And yes i did sign the form after she implied that i would not get the loan without it, as i needed the money for my wedding. Now the person dealing with my complaint told when i spoke to him earlier this week to see how my complaint was coming along that it was in my favour only for me to receive this letter today. If he has investigated my complaint properly and fully he would have listened to this conversation and would not be refusing to uphold my complaint. If i don't get any joy from Lombard i will be taking my complaint to the FOS. Will let you know how i get on.

Well done to all the success story on the site this has given me the strength to fight on for what is truly mine I'm hoping to be one of those success stories myself soon. And thank you Martin for bringing this to our attention.

I had the same thing with Lombard, sent all info onto Ombudsmen, and three weeks ago they rang me saying they were not happy with the way we were sold the PPI by Lombard, and they would be taking it up with them.
I am still waiting to hear, hopefully good news.
so go ahead and send onto the FO, the more complaints they get the better our chances of getting our money back.
    Good Luck.

  • PPI on personal graduate loan with HSBC
I have been through the entire process-first letter sent in oct '07, final settlement 16th sept '08.
HSBC rejected my claim at every step, but i just kept follwing the advice and template letters on this website - it hasn't cost me a penny, just perservence.
Went to the financial ombudsman service who upheld my claim. HSBC then rejected the findings, so had to go to a second adjudicator at FOS, who still upheld my claim.

outcome - £1300 remaining on my loan paid off!!
£1800 paid to me for the PPI premiums, 8% interest, and early repayment penalties paid back when i consolidated my loan !!!!!

:money: Martin Lewis you are a star. To everyone else still claiming - please please please don't give up!
  • I have just sent my letter off to the ombudsman, after 3 letters and numerous phonecalls to RBS requesting my previous loan documentation and receiving nothing back after 3 months of trying I have just decided to pursue this via the ombudsman. To be honest I am currently considering leaving the RBS after some really poor service over the last year and this is the last straw. Once this has been sorted I will be moving account.

Anyone else have that much hassle just trying to get their previous loan documentation?

Fingers crossed I get something back from the ombudsman and win my case. I dont know how anyone can see it in the banks favour. I have only had 2 or 3 previous loans with RBS and going by my mums loan agreements with the same bank around the same time I wouldnt have been able to claim if I took if due to an illness I have had since I was 3 years old even though the bank told me it would cover it, I was told the first time it was compulsary, the second time I knew it wasnt compulsary but I was then emotionally blackmailed and the advisor told me you could walk out here get hit with a bus and be killed and your mum would be left to pay your loan off, she then stated that it would be good for my application if I took the protection so I panic'd and took the protection at £65 per month as I needed the loan as I could no longer afford my car payments and needed to refinance.
