my repayment from halifax / bank of scotland went towards the balance of my loan as well - my loan was almost finished though and there was a balance owed to me over and above the loan payment which was sent to me via cheque - i was given the option via the ombudsman letter to accept those terms and i was happy to.
hope that helps.0 -
Egg PPI
Reclaimed £4666.45
1 letter required - first draft downloaded from here
Well i came home today to find a letter for me from Egg - I thought oh no what are they going to say! To my absolute delight they have refunded £4666.45 of my PPI which is every single penny with interest. No fights no nasty letters just one downloaded from here calmly explaining that i had been misold my PPI and why (was told i would not be able to have the loan without this insuance). A letter arrived 2 days later advising they are looking into my complaint and i would hear from them within 5 working days. Well it was more like 7 but hey who cares! I got every single penny back! I am absoluetly thrilled.
I would definetly recommend to anyone to claim it all back - its rightfully yours and could be thousands!
I am so grateful to this website for its help! :T I am thrilled to finally get one back after years of being ripped off!! :rotfl:
Just going to see if i can find my details on my old Nationwide loan now!!!
Good luck and thanks so so so much again - i am one very happy lady!!! :j

The lady i spoke to was very nice and said that if they stated that they would 'refund' me in the letter then they would have to stand by that..I also explained that if i went to the FOS then i would claim comp for all the calls and letters i wrote i think its called the 'distress and inconvenience procedure' (got the info from this site!!) and that if they dont refund me then i will claim £50 for each day that i have had to contact them (37 calls made to HOBS so would work out to be a lot of ££!!) I am going to speak to them on Monday as she told me to call back and gave me her direct number, then she asked for my bank details so that the refund could be deposited into this... so fingers crossed, it should happen, i will keep you guys posted though.
By the way...the email address of the MD is: andyhornby@hbosplc.com hope this helps!!x:T
LOL good work misses, think your onto one, lets hope you get it sorted.

Cheeky wotsits - after checking my paper work they have only refunded my actual payment although they state they have refunded interest in the letter - Have sent a reply today to get the interest back also - So not quite a straight forward win but almost!!0 -
Hi i read the threads on here daily, however this is my first time writing on here.
I got home from work today to find that after 4 months of waiting, a letter from Lombard direct refusing to uphold my PPI claim stating that i had singed up for it. I will be writing back to them asking for a copy of my conversation over the phone with the salesperson where they stated that 10k was a lot of money and Lombard had to make sure that they got their money back should anything happen to me. Now if that is not miss selling i don't know what is. And yes i did sign the form after she implied that i would not get the loan without it, as i needed the money for my wedding. Now the person dealing with my complaint told when i spoke to him earlier this week to see how my complaint was coming along that it was in my favour only for me to receive this letter today. If he has investigated my complaint properly and fully he would have listened to this conversation and would not be refusing to uphold my complaint. If i don't get any joy from Lombard i will be taking my complaint to the FOS. Will let you know how i get on.
Well done to all the success story on the site this has given me the strength to fight on for what is truly mine I'm hoping to be one of those success stories myself soon. And thank you Martin for bringing this to our attention.

Hi,
I have a Halifax personal load taken in 2003 and I still have 24 mths to pay. The PPI is for about £2000+.
I wrote to the Halifax Insurance complaints division in Aug 2008 and I got a letter back from them stating that they are investigating my complaint and will get back to me shortly.
I am wondering if I have to write to the Halifax Insurance address stated on the PPI document ?
People who have had success stories with Halifax, could you pls tell me if I have written to the correct department? Were you chasing them up for your complaint or how long did they take to come back to you with an answer?
Sorry for these silly qns but any advice will help me reclaiming my PPI.
Many thanksCredit card debt:
MBNA: £1000
RBS: £35000 -
12K Loan from Halifax taken in March 2003 cleared early. Sent first letter to Halifax Oct 07, two months later got a three page letter back saying no. So sent letter to FOS as they said at the end of their letter if not happy go direct to them.
Got a letter from them FOS few days ago, so took a year saying they have heard back from Bank of Scotland and although they accept no liability. As a gesture of good will they are willing to settle it in the following way.
For loans that have been settled the difference between the total amount paid with the difference between the total amount that would have been paid without PPI plus the 8% interest on the amount as composition.
So by looking at my original loan documentation it would appear the PPI was three thousand nine hundred odd plus the one thousand odd pound interest charge on top.
I was not really expecting anything so anyone unsure go for it.

Had Halifax loan in 2001 & was miss sold PPI, Halifax rejected the claim so went to F.S.A. with my complaint in April 08, they had it allocated and a winning result for me by August 08. Thanks to Martin's site and all concerned for their help and advice and also the F.S.A. for their quick response.
However as the account is now with a debt company after Halifax sold it on, all the refund including interest has been sent to the new debter, never mind was expecting something like that to happen any way, still though a very good result approx £3200 reduced of my debt.
