Success!!
Hi, I've posted a couple of times on here so wanted to let you all know that I got a letter from FOS today regarding my complaint against London Scottish plc for a mis-sold loan.
FOS have upheld my complaint and are ordering L&S to re-arrange the loan to put me back in a positionhad PPI not been taken out, and to repay all PPI plus 8%interest along with a note to show how it has calculated the amount concerned. I've to sign a form and send back to FOS to agree.:j
My loan was taken out Sept 2003 for £5000 and the PPI amount was a further £895 on top. PPI only covered for 5 years (my claim for mis-selling) and loan was for 7 years. I cancelled PPI in March 2008 after reading this forum and it was only then I realised the 5 year con after receiving £1.34 rebate!!!
Many thanks for all of the excellent advice you have all offered on this site - you are all stars and I hope you receive the good news due to you all very soon!.
Thanks

What were you reclaiming: Loan Payment Protection
Who was the provider: HFC
How much did you get back: £2,800 plus the settlement of the loan
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman:
After 6 letters, and 9 months the FOS came up trumps and agreed to uphold my complaint against HFC. The PPI was taken out at the same time as the loan and at no point was it explained that it was in fact optional and could be cancelled with in 30 days.

Hi
Well done you guys!! I am hoping someone out there has a success story on a 1998 loan??
I have complained with the usual reasons and LTSB have declined saying that, due the age, they do not have the paperwork to show when the loan ended or if I made a claim etc (I did not. And when I took another loan out in 02 to pay it off was refused a refund of the premium). I have sent them a copy of the Agreement.
Any good news stories on a loan of this age would be great!
Thanks

Hi all im rather new to this, but i thought I better let you all know.
I sent one letter to Halifax asking for the PPL that I have paid on my loan to be refunded and the remaining two years cancelled off the loan due to it being mis sold on 4 counts.
It got a letter a few weeks after saying they were going to look into it and then 10 weeks later I got a letter saying that they looked into all the points I was mis sold on and from there review they have found no reason to believe that I was not provided with the relevant information at the point of sale to enable me to make an informed choice about the policy! BUT.....
As a valued customer they are prepared to put me back in the position I would have been in had I not taken out the PPL, which is done without admission of liability and in full and final settlement of my complaint and will be in contact soon.
My loan was for £11,000 over 7 years with two years remaining. The total cost of PPL was £4,076, so I think im correct in saying that the £4,076 will come off my remaining balance of £5,100 which will leave me just £1,024 to pay! HAPPY DAY
One thing im not sure about is this, am i due the ppl i paid over the first five years of the loan + 8% interest.
If anybody out there thinks i should be getting something else please let me know.
Also any help on reclaiming PPL on a credit card would be much appreciated as I have a credit card with £15,000 on and have paid PPL ever since I had it. I never asked for it and always thought it came with the credit card. So hopefully I have a case and it could mean £1000,s back.
This site is excellent and without it I doubt I would have even sent a letter off to halifax. Keep up the good work.

I have been trying to reclaim ppi from a loan with hfc i took out in 2002 and stopped paying said loan injan 08 as i believe they owe me more than i owe them. i have just refered it to the fos. but have recieved a stat demand leading to insolvency. and a bill including an extra 2k of cost ... help should i set up a payment plan with them or fight it and risk bankrupcy .. p.s. with the payment plan it would include an extra 2k and also they want to put a interst on my house..

Just thought I'd update on my current situation.
First Letter sent on 11th August 2008 (reply received 19th August)
Phoned up a couple of time to see where they were with this both time just got told the information is still being gathered (what more do they need it's all on the letter I sent)
Email chaser sent on the 2nd Sept (aknowledged 3rd Sept, still awaiting reply!)
This is a totally daft question but I just wanted to make sure that this is valid for active policies?
Cheers,
Roy0
