    • What were you reclaiming: graduate loan
    • Who was the provider: HSBC
    • How much did you get back: 648.82 premium + 245.52 interest =894.34
    • Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: after a letter
    • And then write your brief reclaim tale

I posted my story on the PPI thread #11765 :
    ...com/showthread.php?t=1460775&page=589

After 3 months, received 3 letters from HSBC, the last letter doesn't even say when will be expected to have a solution but they were still working on my case. So I called the number on the letter. He was a customer service from local branch. he said they knew I had been waited for long time and they got all info they need and he would send a message to headquarter or somewhere.

I received a letter yesterday that HSBC made a final decision that offered me 894.34 pounds but "do not accept the allegations you have set out". If I accept this offer I will sign the acceptance form otherwise I can still refer this case to Financial Ombudsman.

I am very happy with the result and going to post the acceptance form.

Thank you this website and everyone helped me here!

I too have recieved an offer today from EGG for £1983.14 for mis sold PPI. They paid out after first letter as well, though they havent admitted liability. Who cares though as I got the outcome I wanted.

Great advice on the site and I wrote to EGG only on 20.09.10 asking for a full refund and it is 07.10.10 when I recieved the offer. Very quick.

MBNA are in my sights now and i hope they are as quick.

    Just got refund of £3000!!!!

Took loan with Northern Rock in 2005. Was told PPI was compulsory in order to get the loan, didnt know until i read this site 2 months ago that it wasnt.

i followed your guide. All i did was fill out the questionnaire and send it to Northern Rock. Within 7 weeks they replied, upholding my complaint, refunding all ppi plus interest. RESULT!!! :j

Thank you soooo much, i only used this guide - no claims company, no ombudsman. Brilliant. :T

    Well done Isabella!
I am a week or so behind you with the same people for the same thing.
Not heard anything yet other than a letter acknowledging my letter.
Lets hope I get a similar result !

  • My husband is an ex military fast jet and therefore recieves a military pension . We took out a new mortgage in 2004 in order to move house after my husband had left the military and were sold a mortgage by the Halifax with PPI
In Dec last year he was made redundant by Virgin Atlantic from his aircrew job (thanks Richard B ) . When we went to claim on the mortgage protection we were told that unless my husband was in receipt of Job seekers allowance we were unable to claim PPI. So he went down the route of claiming job seekers allowance only to be told that his pension from the military was deemed enough for a family of five to live off (£450 per month What a joke thats how much the mortgage is !!!). Consequently we received not a single bean from the state or mortgage company. We were not eligible for anything not even free school meals for the kids. ( thats another story why is a military pension not ringfenced and how many ex servicemen are caught in the same trap We so nearly lost our home and all thanks to serving his country.). He has been a 40% tax payer for the last 10years and we were no entitled to a bean!!

Do we have a good case to say we were missold as the mortgage company knew he was in receipt of a military pension when we applied for the mortgage and he would therefore never be eligible for Job seekers allowance?
