  • Whilst sorting through my finances, I was looking at my Virgin Credit Card bills and noticed on older ones- a charge listed as Payment Protection insurance and on my newer bills- listed as Lifestyle protect. I have held my credit card since August 2004 and was never sold any of these products- I took Martin's advice and sent the FOS questionaire to MBNA claiming my money back and that it had never been sold to me but I had been paying it for 6yrs!!

I have just recieved a letter which states I am owed £700 plus a goodwill gesture of £108.26 which pays off the outstanding amount on my credit card!!!! I am over the moon, this is well worth doing so getting writing people!!

Thanks Martin- I am overwhelmed to recieve this amount of money!

    Hiya

I would chase them up on the month.

Some have waited a month to about 45 days, but this may vary, or give them a ring now just to ease your mind, they should be able to confirm when you will be receiving your refund, good luck.;)

Mine took just under three weeks from when I posted off acceptance letter. Mine was transferred directly into my account as I have my accounts with Alliance and Leicester. I telephoned them just once and they said that it is normally 2 weeks after they actually receive the acceptance letter. Mine came through on Wednesday so hopefully yours should not be too long.

Thanks everyone for your replies:) I will call them on Monday Thanks again

  • next question.....i had a credit card with egg which i took out when i was a single parent so chances are i had ppi on that too although i am unsure. when egg had the big shakeup a year or two ago they closed my account and cancelled the card. can i still write to them and ask for a copy of my original agreement to check whether it had ppi on it and if so then claim it back?
    thanks in advance

    Hi Hannah

Its worth giving it a try for a quid.

Just write to request for a copy of your agreement and write the account number, also enclose the £1 cheque or postal order, and ask if they could send by 12-14 days.;)

If you still have the account number though, still give it a try, they may then send the agreement back to you free with a letter, there is no harm in doing that, even if its found that there was no ppi, but like you said, you've a feeling you were also paying for this, give it a go, good luck.

  • Hi All,
Put a PPI claim into BOS a couple of weeks ago and got a phonecall last Tuesday from a lovely lady telling me she has decided the claim in my favour and the redress team will calculate and send me a cheque! So excited. PPI was approx £400 with Ins of £161. Hopefully the 8% will be on top of that. One letter after tracking down the agreement, which for me was the difficult part! Thanks to all on here again for invaluable advice :)
